Ready A/C on Hosho?

My PBEM opponent mentioned a problem that he was concerned about (has dial up
). His CVE the Hosho has only 4 ready planes for some time. He has no damaged a/c and 7 in reserve and 12 ready pilots. He has waited some time but no luck getting all the planes ready. Any ideas on what he may be doing?

What are the other A/C on the Hosho? If the carrier already has ready A/C equal to the max A/C loadout, I believe addl A/C stay in reserve.

IIRC Hosho is coming in game with two units, one with 5 Zeroes, the other with 7 Kates. If your opponent put 12 Zeroes aboard, it is fairly possible that the game will only use 5 and put the 7 other in reserve.
It is a bad idea in WITP to mess around with CV air units... It is far better to leave them abord their home ship, because a lot of strange things happen if you change ship or put them ashore... A pity, as such things were done routinely IRL.
