Continue orders after rest

A feature I miss in COTA is the following: When a rest is over let the units continue the tasks they got prior to the rest. Then you don't have to reissue the orders you gave the previous day (including all waypoints). Especially if you let several units rest, it can be difficult to remember which units you had given which orders...

AlexB,

This is a double edged sword I'm afraid. In many cases, the act of automatically resting due to fatigue will see the force resting for many hours and the battlefield situation often changes significantly within that time. Having them automatically continue with their earlier order may in fact be very unwise. We erred on ths side of caution here. Perhaps we could allow this is a player or order option. What do you think?

I thought, at least, with move and exit orders that after resting they pick up return to their marching orders? That's not how it is working; that would be news to me.

If I'm not mistaken, a given resting squad would just sit there for hrs/days, with the player not taking notice often, especially if playing on huge maps/at "fast" speed.

An option to check (just like "rest after bombard") let's say "move on after rest" would be nice.

Resting units which the player has lost track of isn't any different than defending units or a sucessful attacks which the player has lost track of what the force is doing.

The player needs to keep track of what are his/her forces (as he/she has structured them) and what are their missions. For me losing track, of units/forces means that one is either doing too much micro-management or not planning sufficiently.

Not neccessarily...... I don't know your playing style.... but I use to play on fast as often as possible. I use to direct arty bombardments at this speed as well, often. So while I use to go back to normal regularly, I still might be occupied with providing accurate (or what my intel suggests to be accurate/recent infos) arty fire at fast game speeds, since the on-call bombardments appear to be pretty inaccurate, often.

Someone said that he uses to leave the arty-control to the AI, in another thread, just because to have a bigger challenge (the AI would have less casualties that way = more enemy AI forces to throw into the frey). I can confirm that such a behaviour will put up a bigger challenge, according to my experience.
But unlike that guy, I am eager to have the best result, and love to "clean" a map/or a given objective.

Playing on ">>" or even ">>>" [:)] most of the time might lead to me not being able to take care of a certain unit once in a while (e.g. a resting unit), but it doesn't reflect insufficient planning or too much micro-management, imo. It's rather a question of speed/playing style, and it's about me not having 2 mice and 4 hands. [:D]
