You are talking 2 different topics. Making custom ships and imorting them are very different things. Have you set up to run SS with the -filesys extension so you can mod?

Thanks Dragonlead,
What I want to do is start making Ship for the game and then placing them into play. I have done some 3D modeling and would like to work on a Battlestar Galactica mod for SS. I have the game installed just as I recieved it from the Digital download.
Thanks

Have you downloaded Magic from the Starshatter website (ver 1.5)? Have you set up a second desktop icon for SS with a -filesys extension?
If you have done both of these, you can get started on the modding aspect of this very cool game.

The real resorce were the old forums at
http://www.starshatter.com/ but they seem to be gone for ever...
I wouldnt do to much modelling yet untill/if magic2 arrives (it may changes things some what)

Thank you P10ppy,
The links you have provided have been very helpfull. When do you think they will release magic 2? I will mess around with Magic 1.5 and work on the file defenitin for the first few fighters that I plan to model.
Thanks

The easiest way is to copy your existing desktop icon for SS-TGS. Then open up the properties dialog by right clicking on the icon and selecting the properties option at the bottom of the list. Change the command line to read like this
"C:\Matrix Games\Starshatter\Stars.exe" -filesys -nosplash
This presumes you saved it in the default directory. The "filesys" opens up the program for additional source code items (like ships, missions and weapons). The "nosplash" gets rid of the opening credits and takes you straight into the menu screens.
From here, you should read the mod SDK on the SS website. It will give you a good intro to the basics.

Again thanks for the info I have tried to change the string
this is what comes up initialy: "D:\Matrix Games\Starshatter The Gathering Storm\autorun.exe"
Now I change it to "D:\Matrix Games\Starshatter The Gathering Storm\autorun.exe"-filesys -nosplash and I get an error that tells me the path is invalid and to check to see if there is a file.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
Mark

You have 2 errors. The primary error is that the autorun.exe is the execute file that opens up the start-up screen, not the game itself. Go into your My Computer area and dig down to the necessary folders. There should be a very large .exe file with a simple name like Stars.exe or maybe Shatter.exe. That is the program you want to actually open.
The second error is that you need a space between the final quotation mark and the first hyphen. My experience has been that this is a finicky area for correctness.

I have it set as my homepage,
here, actually. I don't think the mechanics have changed much, but it doesn't have anything to do with modelling.
