Injured players remain in the game

Playing a game after updating to Release 3...

TE gets an injury, the graphic indicates that it is a career ending injury. The next play he is back on the field.

Teams were CPU controlled and I'm pretty sure each team only had 1 TE on their roster, but shouldn't they use a RB or WR instead of using a player that supposedly has a career ending injury? It shouldn't be possible to continue using a player that has such a severe injury.

That is a program feature - no need to worry about injuries.

It is really the same TE ? When only one TE in on the roster and this TE is injured the programm creates a new TE when no other (offensive) player is set in the depth chart for this position. So it is possible that a RB or WR replaces a TE but they have to be assigned in the depth charts.

It was definitely the same guy... same number, same name.

Was this a quick play game, or a league 3D game?

This was a league 3D game.

Overall I think the injury system is working. I think where things became messed up here is there were no other plays on the team for that position. Probably something easy enough to take care of.

Maybe the coach is Vince Lombardi, and he made him go out there anyway. [;)]

Why was there only one TE on the team?

That can be set up with the team profile.

The cpu filled the roster. I've noticed nearly all the teams have only 1 TE. Might be a good idea to enforce a minimum number of players at a given position.

I made some changes to the 'FindBestPossiblePlayer' routine to ensure that if a TE is injured and there are no other TE's on the team, then it will use receivers or running backs as a last resort. Same holds for SB's as well.

Having the game 'force' minimums is probably not the best solution when you get into the smaller roster sizes.

What I would recommend though is that the Team Profiles that are created have a minimum players per position as required. If the team profiles only have, say one TE on the list then if that player is injured, the game has to make do with some other player.

Each team now has a Team Profile that sets the number of players the team should hold.  As more templates come out, I don't believe this will be a problem, as not many of them will have just one tight end.
