R3 Issues: Canadian Rules, Arcade control

Hey guys...

Okay, I finally got registered and have R3 up and running on my PC. This was the first game I played after downloading the new release. As stated in the Subject Line, I was using the stock Canadian Rule set with arcade control in Quick Game. I was playing as Ottawa Renegades and the CPU was the Edmonton Eskimos. I have not initiated the draft yet, so the game had generated random rosters for this match. I came across the following irregularities:

1) Control When I pulled directly back on the joystick to have the Ottawa QB drop back, he would run in place right behind the Center. If I pulled back-left or back-right, he would drop back as desired. After pulling back-left or back-right, the QB could then drop straight back, but not directly after the snap.

2) Processing Edmonton missed a FG short, but it was caught behind the goal line. Ottawa was penalized for Illegal Contact (on a kicking play???). The ball was spotted after the FG, 1st and 15 for Ottawa at the Edmonton 35.

3) Processing Ottawa running back plunged ahead on 1st and 10 and just barely made it across the line of scrimmage. 3 minute warning (first half) sounded after the play ended. Should have been 2nd and 9 or 10. Ottawa was awarded a 1st down.

4) Rules This one happened twice. Ottawa attempts a FG and misses short. Ball caught behind the goal line and not returned. Ball spotted at the Line of scrimmage for the missed kick, no Single awarded. Should have been spotted at the 35 yard line and a point given to Ottawa.

5) Rules Ottawa QB scrambles out of the pocket and throws backwards to a receiver, but misses him and the pass falls to the ground. As it was a lateral pass, it should have been ruled as a fumble, but the play was whistled dead as an incomplete pass.

6) Canadian Timing Rules If the play clock is whistled in before a running game clock expires, the play shall be played out, even if the game clock reads double zeroes before the ball is snapped. This applies for the end of all quarters or the three minute warning. During gameplay, an Officials Time Out was called while the play clock was running at the end of the quarter and the three minute warning in the second half.

7) Timing Rules I noticed the game clock was running on a 1st and 10 for Edmonton after they had just returned a kick-off.

8) Canadian Timing Rules When a Ball carrier is tackled in bounds inside the three minute warning, the game clock is stopped until the play clock is whistled in. I noted that the game clock continued to run after a player was tackled in bounds inside both three minute warnings.

Let me know if you require any further details.

What controller are you using?

Thank you for your post, Brockleigh.

I have seen a few of those before, so I am sure David has them on his list, but some I have not.

Because of the current make up of the beta members, the Canadian rules games are not played as much as the American game in beta. Part of this is because a few members are working on American rules playbooks.

As long as the build is up to date, it is likely a good idea to list any issues, and let David sort through the ones he already knows.

Can you further describe: "I noted that the game clock continued to run after a player was tackled in bounds inside both three minute warnings." Because the play clock starts as soon as the play selection dialog is displayed, and that's when the game clock (re)starts, I would think this would be correct action.

After the ball carrier was tackled in bounds and the play summary screen came up, before the play-calling screen, the scoreclock appeared in the upper left hand corner, and the clock was running.
