What does the Elmer think about when he is turned on?
Its proberbly a complicated question but if a developer had the time then maybe he could explain abit how the AI thinks?
Thx.

Some of this may be wrong, but I think I have a pretty good picture;
The inbuilt AI works on a formation-by-formation basis. Essentially, it can only see one formation at a time, and only the objectives of that formation.
At any one time, an active PO-controlled formation will either be trying to capture the first of its objectives which is in enemy hands, or trying to protect the last of its objectives which is in friendly hands.
The PO also imagines a line perpendicular to the line between the above pair of objectives. If enemy units are on the wrong side of this line, it considers itself to be in danger of being outflanked, and will act to prevent that.

So formations, could be a brigade in a small scenario or an army in a huge scenario?

It's also influenced by whether it has local and global superiority, and there are stances that you can set. Also, some units like special forces behave a bit differently. It also doesn't always worry about encirclement depending on it's stance.
It's actually a lot more complex than it may appear on the outside.

Be excellent if real documentation for AI behaviour could be on the TD list for sometime not too far away ...

For the case there was something not clear: A formation as in the OOB. Certainly depending on unit scale of the scenario.
Thanks from a non-englishman for this.[:)]

Sorry. Can't recall. Somewhere at SZO maybe, download the attachment and rename the file extension to .zip
