David and Mike - you guys are the greatest for releasing this after all. I remember when I first heard of this project and thought wow my two favorite wargames being updated! I was disappointed when it came to naught (the entire redesign) but releasing a "patch" - hell it will add many hours of play for us old timers - is a special gift to the wargaming community. Thanks again!

Hi,
Wow this is great to hear! I love PacWar and thank you very much for the update....But I also love WIR and have not seen any information on the patch for it...do you have time to give us an idea of what will be new in WIR? I know I will find out in the readme file but as most gamers are I can not wait to find out...WIR and PacWar were and still are my two favorite wargames....thanks for your work on these great games it is much appreciated....

I was just wondering, since PacWar and WiR will still be DOS based, will there be any problems playing them on Win'98 computers? or will you also include a utility/patch that will make these games compatible or easier to play with Win'98?
Thanks for all of your hard work

The truth is I am sure some of you will have a problem. Its just the way it is with DOS. We will be taking all possible steps to make this not the case.

Well, the PacWar refit is well on its way! Go and check out the new website...
http://www.matrixgames.com/pacificwar
where many new screenshots and information on the fixes and changes are posted. Some of the Screenshots are a few days old and the outlook of the game has already been changed (some aircraft Icons and Ship Icons)! I am helping create this new upgrade to this special game and am working on making it live up to its original high quality!

I notice there has not been any activity on this forum for a couple of days, and I didn't want you to think that we had lost interest out here. I, for one, can hardly wait!

Folks, please leave those guys alone, so they can get work done on PacWar. It'll be out when its out. Don't pressure them to release before they should. I've seen too much of that in the commercial game industry, I want/hope Matrix to be different.
Thanks.

Following up with that thought, these guys are 1 for 1 on quality products (SPWaW). I'm willing to wait to make that stat 3 for 3. We've waited this long for somebody to do something with these old and flawed classics; we can wait another month or so if it comes to that.

Thanks for all of your hard work
I've personally had no problems with
running Pacwar under Win95B OSR2
Don't know about win98, but 95B OSR2 is close to being same with some differences (browser integrated I think in 98)
