What's up with Hong Kong? The British possession fell to the Japanese in 12/41 after a ferocious battle, IIRC. In the game the Japanese have complete access to the port from the start.

We decided not to make an area for just Hong Kong. Few troops were ever stationed there and it fell quickly once Japan declared war. At this game scale it was felt it was better to leave it out.

Well there 65,000 troops involved. The battle lasted 2 and a half weeks. The British lost 12000+, killed and captured. I believe it's significant enough for inclusion. It adds color and chrome and, to me, it doesn't feel right for the Japs (Is this PC?) to own and access this iconic port. Perhaps it should be handled like Gibraltar.

I agree about the chrome [8D] , immersion and all...
but with the scope of the game it has to be a forgone conclusion that it will fall i think, so how would you handle it in game terms? another resource close by for Japan would be nice if a separate territory of Hong Kong existed [8D]

Very few games at this scope give Hong Kong any place at all. I think the solution here is satisfactory.
The battle for Hong Kong was, however you twist and turn it, not a decisive one for the outcome of the war.

Besides which, if each turn is 3 months long, Japan is just going to get it on (presumably) the first turn. Battle for Singapore last 2 weeks, one turn lasts 3 months. Not really a need to shore up the place with too much D.

But Japan now has the use of the port from 1939 on. This has to add some advantages to their post PH expansion.

I would have to agree with the thread starter here, it would definitely add "color and chrome" to include it in a future build. Frozen, no resource, just the port, defended by a MIL. Good idea Pford!
