I'm finding it impossible to land on carriers after a successful mission. I keep restarting from the beginning because I don't want it to go against my record, but because I CANNOT successfully land on a carrier, I can't get past the first mission. I have slowed down to almost stop and it still won't land! Is this a bug or am I just doing it wrong? I either crash into the back of the runway (if I'm going too fast) or into the actual flight deck (even if I'm barely moving). I don't remember having this problem in Operation Live Fire: it's only when the missions count that it seems to do this.

As a temp solution you can always exit out of the mission just before landing. You will still recieve credit minus the  safe landing bonus.

Thanks for the idea. It won't let me do that if there are any enemies nearby.

Are you coasting in or are you under power? If you coast in (engine off) it probably doesn't recognize it as a landing attempt and the code will call it a collision instead. What I found works it to keep your engine just barely on and then stay within speed using your reverse thruster. Aim for the center of the landing bay as well. DO NOT try to get your wheels to touch. This triggers a collision detection and you die.

Ah, that was it. I was coasting into the carrier, as it didn't make sense to have the engines going while I was trying to slow down. Now I can land every time (and even once when my yaw thrusters were gone and I had to maneuver in with only pitch thrusters).

It was the same situation for me, although you can usually go on engines off if I'm correct, so long as you aim at the center of the bay.
