Rail/Sea Transport / Interdiction

For consideration of pros and cons - would there be any merit to utilizing Rail Transport in lieu of Sea Transport?

What I see is that:
1. Sea transport does not attract Air Interdiction and Rail Transport does...
2. Rail transport used in this manner would not permit amphibious invasions, thus would be reserved specifically for friendly port to port transfers.
3. Rail lines would be broken via enemy naval movement over them. However, this could be offset via the use of sea zones - requiring land control of two or more points in order to access.
4. Interdiction hits would force units to stop en route - increasing importance of naval escorts.
5. Could reserve sea transport on event/theater option basis with respect to conducting amphibious invasions.

Just considered this, so haven't been able to think it all the way through - I welcome any and all feedback, pro and con.

Thanks!

Mark

It's a good idea, but it might unbalance some pre-existing scenarios, (Like my perennial Favorate CFNA '40-'43, which hase variable supply levels already calculated). [X(]

That being said, it would be GREAT to add the ability to actively interdict supplys to new scenarios (Although it may give Elmer hemmorids.[:-]. I don't think it would be too tough to add (speaking as someone who has limited programming experience). [8|]

This could work- especially for scenarios where there are no real rail lines. Make sure to set rail damage to zero. Also, figure out how hex ownership works at sea.
