COTA in good company in the French print press

Today I received my copy of Cyber Stratege no4 from Robin Pirez (writer, COTA enthusiast, and Art Director for the BoA and ACW games for AGEod).
The magazine: Slightly under 100 pages. First looks at TOW and MTW2. Reviews of COTA (lead review), Rush for Berlin, PzC, FL, Supreme Ruler 2010, Harpoon III, Exile, TOAW III, Crown of Glory, and DW.
COTA Review is six pages and scores 9/10.
Summary comments:
"target audience amateurs to experienced tactical/operational players"
Plus:
"exceptional inovative system with excellent game play simulating the challenges of command"
"AI, graphics, and UI very well implemented"
"30 something scenarios"
Minus:
"the documentation is enormous and only appears on the CD without a French translation"
"no musical score"
=====
I will go through the review more later when I have time (and it will take time) as I had 3 years of French more than 30 something years ago in High School. (Also, my translations above may be a little lose and would not be acceptable for work at the UN.)

Yes thanks Robin. My school French is even further back than Mark's and he was obviously much better than me at it. But it looks great and I appreciate the review very much.

I wanted to add that I had a chance to look through the magazine more closely today.
Praise is not handed out easily; these are some serious gamers who write this thing. COTA was the only game among those I listed receiving a 9/10. The only game listed which came close to that was Dangerous Waters from Sonalysts at an 8/10.

That Jean-Francois guy is an especially tough wargame critic. I heard that he pours milk over ASL counters and eats them for breakfast! [:D]

Actually, it wasn't JeF who wrote that, but Robin.

Rooster,
Yes, MarkShot is right. I didn't write the test in Cyberstratege, but in PC4WAR. And only gave 8/10. [;)]
A preview of the issue can be found online
here BTW.
To finish with the review of the french game press regarding COTA, CanardPC, a very humorous mag, gave 8/10 in his #127 issue.

Nice. But nothing can be further from the truth.
Cheers,
JeF.

Mmmmmm. Juliper! [:)]
Actually, I've never had it. Maybe someday.
Jean-Francois - very nice link. Congrats on getting published! It looks like a good magazine - wish there was something similar in English! I am on episode 32 of "Learn French by Podcast" so maybe someday I'll be able to enjoy your review!

You cant imagine how easy it is before you actually try it. [:)]
I sucks a lot of time though.
Interrested to know more ? There was a 6 pages analysis on the next issue
here. Might be the last one : the company publishing the mag is in financial difficulties nowadays.

Still 243 epidodes to go for basic reading skills. Good luck.
French is so tricky at times. [:'(]
