Any changes to the air icon art and the "watching" phase?

From reading here, Hard Sarge has said many times "same engine just bug fixes" but 2 things with the original games frustrated me:
1. The airplane icons whilst on map were so big they hid the ation and made it hard to follow when things got tight. This always made me play with those hollow colored squares which to me, defeated the whole purpose of having nice game art. Any changes there?
2. Once a side has planned its raids and set them in motion, there is absolutely nothing for the player to do for such a long time in waiting for the turn to resolve itself. It's not a five minute things in other words. Is there a chance of speeding this up or maybe just having a spreadsheet of results?
I kinda like this last option as the game is all about spreadsheets and command logs. So why not just have an end of action summary phase option that by-passes all the waiting for the non-phasing player? That would make the game hugely more playable for me and leave all the micriomanagement people like (and me too in a way - just not the clicking!).
I know the answer! "Same engine..." [;)]
