Odd Pathfinding

This is Foothills again and I have seen some odd pathfinding from time to time. Maybe the snow is making it worse or just me. Anyway, trying to undertstand the mechanics here. Any reason why this unit, and there are others, would have such an odd path? It may correct itself I suppose but still wondering as never noticed such odd paths before.

This units, plus all its buddies in 9th Div, have orders to Road Columm, Quickest move to the OBJ where the 59th already is.

I like this scenario but the snow makes movement really slow even on the highway!

That is very odd, some of the path it chose is impassible to motorised due to the slope combined with the rough - I could not get it to repeat though. Did the unit recalc it's path eventually?

It did eventually go on the correct path up the road. I had seen this on and off in this scenario though nothing seems to be cause any final odd paths in the end. Just seemed strange is all like you said.

Finally finished this beast and got a Marginal Victory. [:(] One of my favorite scenario's. I learned the power of putting AGG on MIN and moving like hell down the road! Snow and Mud drove me nuts though.

What formation type and role was the unit performing?

It was part of the 9th Division which the whole division had a Agg MIN, Move order, Quickest, Road Column to the Obj in the lower right of the pic.

Interesting how the unit itself has a Vee order showing but I never gave it such an order and only the 9th Division a few levels up as Move, Road Column. A few other units in this large column had similar odd pathfinding but they all eventually got their act together.

Side note - It seemed the only way to keep the units on the road consistenly was to force Road Column, even with Quickest selected, which was a lesson for me. If units get off the road in this scenario, it gets really slow and ugly quickly with the snow and mud.
