1.41 Multiplayer Test

I've created a quick and simple multiplayer league using 1.41 and uploaded it to my server. Anyone interested in helping out with this test can download the compressed league files here

http://www.xibl.net/1.41%20Test/psa.zip

Remember to rename the file psa.7z after download and decompress using 7z or WinRar. Load it up and submit a draft profile for one of the four teams and let's see how it goes from there.

Please post anything you do here so we have a full trail of actions. Thanks to Shaun for all his work trying to get multiplayer to function correctly!

I downloaded, logged in as Tucson, submitted a draft profile, changes contact info and GM tendencies. So far no problems. Did my changes upload ok?

Looks like everything came over without a problem. I've uploaded a new copy of the league file with URett's changes for any others that would like to join the test.

I downloaded your file and logged in as Hartford.  I submitted a draft profile and it seemed to upload with no problem.  In addition, I opened the files logging in as each and every team and did not get the error message we were seeing yesterday.

You indicate that you uploaded a new copy of the league file with URett's changes.  When I connected, I did not get a message stating that the commissioner had uploaded a new version of the league files and there was no additional download.  It may be that the game does not recognize a new version until there is a greater change such as a draft?

Deltadog, probably because I uploaded the changes before you downloaded your file...so to the game there was no new file uploaded to the server. Check Tucson's contact information and you should at least see URett's name as proof his changes came through on the new league file.

You are correct.  The file I downloaded does show Urett in Tuscan's profile.

Cool. Looks like both draft profiles went through correctly. Maybe we will wait for one more person to join the test and then I will run the draft. The real test will come after that when we need to transfer roster changes.

Yep, got the draft profile and your changes to the contact section. So far so good. I will create a profile for Providence and then will run the draft tonight. Will update here after the draft is complete and the new file has been uploaded to the server.

Okay, the draft is run and a new file has been uploaded to the server. Please load up the league and download the new file. Then make a few changes to your team and submit them. Post here when you have done this. Thanks.

I started the game and opened the test league logging on as Hartford.  Next I was advised that a new version had been posted by the Commissioner.  The new version of the league files downloaded in about 1 minute.  I made roster changes and proceeded to upload the changed file to the server.  I go no error messages and when finished the game advised that the roster moves had been uploaded.  If the changes are there, all worked as smooth as possible.

The game downloaded your roster moves smoothly and without incident. So far I like what I see!

Honolulu changes came through loud and clear! This includes all the releases and signings that you did, wlfcards. I'm almost ready to deem 1.41 a multiplayer success!

I've uploaded a new copy of the league file to the server which contains the changes made by Deltadog and wlfcards.

When I try to sign William Lucas C I am told he is unavailable, but do not see him on any
other roster.

I could not find the report showing the draft. At first glance, I am not sure how good a job the AI did in following the instructions.

I brought up the game and was again told that a newer version of the league files were available.  Once again, it downloaded in about 1 minute with no problem.

I don't think that the issues mentioned by wlfcards pertain to the multiplayer aspect of the game.  These could be issues that need to be addressed, but our major concern in this test is the operation of the remote aspects of the game.  I am not objecting to his mentioning these problems, but feel that they would be an issue whether the league is multiplayer or single player and are not a sign of weakness in the multiplayer aspect of the game.

Since these issues have been observed, I will comment on my observations.  When I set up the draft profile for Hardford, I did not go into the detail that I might have had this been other than a test.  I selected the last option for all rounds of the draft.  While I cannot recall the exact term, the game used, basically the instruction was foir the A-1 to rely primarily on experience.  A list of draftees can be found by opening the team management page and selecting the transaction tab.  There may be other reports,  but having found this I did not look further. The first 60 entries (scroll down to bottom) show draft choices and those a the top show those called up and placed in the major league roster.  In the case of Hardford every player is over 30 years old.  This would appear to indicate that the A-1 did follow the only instruction that I gave it and that was to draft based on experience.

I searched for william Lucas in the player list and he is indeed shown as a Free Agent and is not on any teams roster.  I tried to sign him and got the following message, "This player has been signed by another team since you last downloaded the association (or there was a problem verifying his availability)  You may not sign this player at the present time. Please try signing another player."
I attempted to sign the next catcher on the list, William Rice and was allowed to do so.  I then placed him in my line up and released a catcher who was there originally.  Originally, I had thought that perhaps, at this stage we were not allowed to sign free agents, but this is clearly not the c

Okay, guys...I had a few minutes before work to load up the game and it downloaded the changes from Tucson and Hartford. I've uploaded a new copy of the association to the server.

I also tried to sign C William Lucas and got the same error. I have no idea what is up with him. As far as I can tell no team has signed him, so he is in limbo. Maybe Shaun can take a look if he has a chance.

Downloaded the new league files without a problem.  This is the third time a new file version has been downloaded successfully.  Not that any change in William Lucas status was expected, I attempted to sign him again with the same results.  No change made and no upload attempted this time.

Downloaded fine.

Shaun - the draft profiles include parameters for Starters (i.e. stuff) and Relievers. For purposes of implementing these parameters is a Middlle Reliever/Spot Starter a starter, reliever or fall through the cracks?
