Hi all,

I have found these sound files to replace the stock UI sound files.
Should be placed in folder ...\Conquest Of The Aegean\Sounds\UI\

Please feel free to use them if you like them.

In-game message (replacing stock Bing-sound):

Message sound file

In-game chat message:

Chat message sound file

I also recommend using this Generic Mod Enabler from JoneSoft, which you might already know:

Generic Mod Enabler

Leonidas,

Welcome to COTA. It's not everyday that a "first poster" is mod for game. Thank you very much for your contribution.[:)]

Hoplomachia,

Nice sounds.
You might want to contact El Savior or Tactics on these boards : they both have setup some files repository for HTTR/COTA already.
Check : Airborne Depot and World War HQ.

Re: Mod Enabler : it sound interresting. Someone has to try it and post instructions on how to use it with HTTR/COTA and the existing mods.

Cheers,

JeF.

Arjuna & JeF,

Thanks, i will try contacting El Savior and Tactics.

Arjuna, is the sound file StrikeRp.wav in the UI folder being used?

I have used the Generic Mod Enabler for some years now and its really great.
Instructions are included in the zip-file.
Basically you must adhere to the file structure in COTA, when you deliver a mod.
Lets say i would use a mod for the Message sound file in COTA, then i would go through these steps.
1. Install GME in the COTA root directory (once only and it that creates a folder named MODS)
2. Then i would create my own folder for my Message sound file in the MODS folder using this structure containing my wav-file:
...MODS\My Message Sound\Sounds\UI\Message.wav.
3. Then i start GME and 'My Message Sound' will show up in the box Available Mods.
4. I can now activate this mod with a click and GME keeps track of the files both new and stock.
5. If i do not like the mod and want the stock sound file back, i can deactivate the mod with a click and thats it.

Hi all,

I have found these sound files to replace the stock UI sound files.

Is the "1" that the morse code represent something you chose on random, or does it has a connection to what actually was used at the time?

Personally I belive that the sound is this games only weakness. Some photos on units and commanders wouldnt hurt, but I really cant stand the original sound (I use a sound mod).
Regarding just the messages, it would be nice if different sounds could represent different kinds of messages.

I wonder what plans are in the process for further installments of this series of games?[&o]

Pergite,

I actually chose the morse code because it gave more of a 'heads up' during game than the stock bing-sound, and also has some 'radio sound' to it. I had also made a sound mix for Airstrike but unfortunately found out this also use the Message sound.
It would not be difficult to get sounds for different kinds of messages, but if would require some coding to make it work.
I am also using a sound mod (Tactics) with better sounds from weaponry and such, and i recommend it.

COTA is beyond doubt a high quality game and i think we can expect even more in the future!
