I had good day yesterday without siege crashes. My workaround was to use only one group for sieging and if the enemy had two separate groups in the province where they started siege, then I let them finish the siege without interference.

This has been said elsewhere, but I've rescued a couple of games by switching to 'aggressive siege'. If you see a garrison size of 0, and your siegeworks are still in place, a crash is in your immediate future :).

What I do now is to have an overwhelming siege corps (6-8 pieces of siege artillery, copious brigade level engineers), and try to finish sieges in two turns.
