something weird happens with double city attack

I have 2 divisions in a river province attacking a city. After turn one - I set them on "attack" - when the coming turn is finished it says the siege has been lifted due to absence of besiegers ... still I didn't get involved in fighting with enemy troops.

A funny thing to notice is that both divisions took a heavy beating ? Have they been firing at one another ?[&:]

hmmmm, I got to look into this one, I not seen anything like it from my runs, but I normally didn't do many "attacks" out of a seige

(if I had the firepower to defeat it in HW, I had enough for the seige)

I'll look and see

it is working with the Fort seige, attack, brings up the HW battle for the area ???

well it was the Siege of Cairo (I'm CSA) I have 3 strong divisions to start the siege - next turn I order the siege work to attack the city (assault or what's it called ?) ... and then there was no battle with an enemy group and the message says the siege has been canceled due to no besiegers left - and my divisions seem to have taken a very serious battering ... unreasonable high (divisions went from 14.000 to 6.000 and I could see the garrison did about 2.000 damage in total ...

Sarge, I went back to check and it seems the text says "attack fortress" even during city siege - perhaps this is the source of the bug.

Anyhow, I just upgraded with the patch and I changed the siege type to aggressive - and the next turn the final defenders were ousted from Cairo and the city is finally mine.

You might want to check what happens when you are sieging a city with 2 siege works and choose "attack fortress" - it seems yesterday very weird things happen.

I wonder if it does have something to do with attacking cities instead of forts.  I tested the "attack" function numerous times, but thinking back on it it may always have been against forts, not cities.  Perhaps using "attack" on a city instead selects something like the aggressive siege option.  I will test it on a city and see what's going on.  Thanks for the reports on this.
