I have started playing again after the latest patch was released and have saved two games but can open neither of them.
The error is 'Type mismatch in procedure modGamesScreens.SaveGameLoad'
I get the option to press F9 to continue. On the third load attempt, I get 'Unable to continue' and have to quit the program.

One thing common to both saves is that they are at the start of quarters. Could this be a cause?

I'm assuming these are games that were created with the most recent build? Unforunately you won't be able to load R2 saved games into R3.
 
But even still, there is a known bug with this beta release that prevents games from being saved properly if it's a custom league with no draft rounds set.
 
I have made a number of fixes involving saved games over the past couple of weeks and those will be in the next public beta.
