0600 Hours

I have been given the honer to command the crack I Ariete tank force in Libya. We are three comapnys consisting of two blackshirt COs and one average infantry company. Each platoon has a 45mm mortar plus an atr and a 8mm hmg. Plus support of one platoon of Autocananon 65 mm ATG and a platoon of M40 75 light tanks. Also will have 4 105 and 2 81mm Mortars. With 4 20mm SPAA for air defense.

Attatched to HQ will be 6 152MM FH. Plus a platoon of recon Cycle and platoon of recon Lancias also sec of light recon tanks.

We are to advance against the British here out side Msus at 0600 Hours. It is hazy and visability is at 650 feet. Not too bad but they will have the advantage due to there equipment at these ranges. I have set up a two company advance with A and C the black shirt companys to head the advance and B to bring up the rear due to lack of training on there part. The bad part is that all my men are green raw recrits and today will be there first babtism of fire. We shall see we shall see!!!!

They are to advance east between the center and southern objectives. They will be closer in there advance to the southern map edge where the southern objective is located. Once they have goten past the objectives A and C company will turn north towards the center ones and B will swing south and take the southern one. Once that is secure they are to proceed east to the rear ones.

We do not have much in the way of armor support and im sure the British will be loaded. This is going to be a severe test of my men here today. I have told them to remember the old Roma Legions and do them proud today. See recon photo of my placing of our force. Glory to Rome today long live El Duetche.

Only 25 minutes into the battle and I am in trouble already. They began a heavy bombardment about 10 minutes ago and I do mean heavy. They laid most of it in on comapany C in the south but still had enough to beat the heck out of A in the north. Now I cant get either company to come up out of there holes and move forward. We are at a complete standstill. If they continue not to move at all the enemy will just kill them all in there holes.

Have lost a light recon tank and a SPAA plus at least 25 men so far. I have tried every thing to get them to move but to no avail. Have spotted what I believe maybe some of there artty parks and have called down hell on them in the hopes to slow this unrelenting death they are dropping on us.

Our big guns have at least been busy killing the enemy troops as well. At least a hundred enemy have been sent to hell. If the men continue to stay down in there holes and refuse to move I will have to give my officers the order to shoot some of them in order to get the others to move. I dont want to do this but I may have to.

This day may be one of the worst in the Italians history of sending men to war. I am at my wits end and dont really know what to say or do to get the men to stand up and advance. If they wont advance then this battle is over and never really got started. I just dont see how the men can let this happen.

The recon photo will show the companys in suppression and not moving at all. At least only a very few have tried to retreat so far. Our officers are holding them in line some how.

What version are you using for this?

8.4 vanilla I believe. They are all green troops but the black shirts are supposed to be elite. But they are not acting as such sure hard to get them to move out from under the enemys bombardment right now. Have not really done nuch in the way of fighting as yet because they wont move forward towards the enemy to fight.

The Blackshirts formations in Vanilla SPWAW are NOT Elite.
Their formation has them coded as "Average" troops.
In Enhanced they are coded as 'second line'

Plus the Italian Ratings are low in 8.4 so its gonna be a tough battle. This is exactly why we adjusted the ratings for Enhanced so you could actually move your men...

What ever u do,,, which I suggest u fire smoke from your Arrty into your own suppressed lines,,that should give them enough supression relief as to start retreating,then get them doing a flank of barrage area advance.
reconsolidate them behind your own smoke and circularly advance them after regrouping!! hopefully,,, but don't surrender!![:-]

Alby what would happen to all my campaigns if I went to the enhanced mod now. Like this Italian one I am in right now have only done 7 turns and all the others that I have completed at least 50 battles . Will it effect them so i can get them to at least move. Will I see any major changes in my core forces or just there exp points.

if you do it in the middle of battle it will effect things.
If you do it after you have completed one,or even right at the end of a battle might be better, it should work, then the AI would not have units with wrong weapons etc etc...how ever some of YOUR units may need to be "changed" try it and see but back up your other ones.
