Now here is a pretty unique scenario that should go up into the Scenario Depot sometime tomorrow. It is quite a bit of action and you get to try out various new features in the game. Check the depot tomorrow.

LIGHTNING STRIKES IN NORWAY

German Advance vs Norwegian Delay
Stavanger, Norway, April 9, 1940.
_______Turns: 15

Special Note: Important. Please play the German side as the human player for this scenario.

There are a lot of unusual things happening in this scenario. Paratroopers are dropped on turn one. They will need to get to the ammo canisters because their ammunition is minimal.

That may prove difficult, since they will be under constant fire.

Beginning on turn 4, Ju-52s will enter as reinforcements. They will not fly themselves. You must land them at the airport on the runway. No cheating now, restrict their landings to the airfield only.

There is additional ammunition on the aircraft if your ammo canisters are destroyed in landing or by enemy fire.

The Norwegians are sending everything: airport security, The Police from Stavenger, and troops from the nearby military outposts. It is going to be a tough fight.

BACKGROUND:

Sirens wail and the crack of automatic weapons break the quiet sunny morning as German paratroopers descend around the Sola Airfield at Stavenger.

The Fuhrer's insatiable lust for power and control of all of Western Europe has unleashed itself on the Scandanavian countries. The first part of the plan for conquering western Europe has begun.

At four key points, five companies of Fallshirmjager soldiers are initiating the German conquest of Norway. Following them will be JU-52s, which will land at the airport.

Norwegians of the 14th "Bjorg" regiment along with airport security troops and the Police from Stavenger proceed at once to the area to retake it.

Even antiquated armored vehicles join in the melee at Sola Airfield.

Indeed it was, Talon. It was the biggest air-land-sea assault of the Reich in World War II. The naval part, as you know, in Operation Weser was a disaster with the loss of the Blucher and at least 8 destroyers.

Hitler had nothing left to execute Operation Sealion after this. With no support ships, he was to look east (though he had been looking that way already, evidently).

Should be ready.

Germany lost 10 destroyers, all at Narvik. The lost heavy cruiser "Blucher" in the Oslofjord, and two light cruisers. "Køinigsberg" and "Karlsruhe". I also belive that some submarines and some smaller craft was lost.
There also whas some damage to other ships.

The british suffered comparable losses, among other ships the air craft carrier "Glorious" <sp?> was lost, but the Royal Navy was much larger, and the british could therfore better aford the losses.

The operation left the already weak German navy even weaker, which of course was a severe disadvantage when Seeløve was prepared.

Yes I agree that the loses off the Kriegsmarine were too much for their limitet capability and the whole think was not planed well enough but without the iron from Schweden the Allies would have had a lot off better changes to win the war so the whole thing was defently a los for them . Espacially when you consider that they planed the whole much longer .

Hi Bill!

Great job with SP:WAW- VERY impressive! And you guys' post-release scenario creation and support is awesome. Thanks!

Quick Newbie Question: I'm playing your new Norway scenario. How do I transfer the ammo from the Ammunition units to the paratroopers?

Thanks again!

Welcome, Gene, hope you continue to enjoy it!

Move your units adjacent to the nearest ammo supply and leave them there for one full turn. Check your ammo and make sure it is not suppressed. If so, try to rally it or you won't have any ammo given out Image

And remember, the Norwegians are no fools! They are aiming for the ammo supplies to blow them up Image

Thanks Bill!

I must be doing something wrong, because my paras have been in and adjacent to the ammo for several turns, both with 0 supression, and no ammo resupply. I just noticed, though, that all the units, including the ammo, are in advance mode. Does mode have anything to do with ammo resupply? Makes sense to me that they might all have to be in defend mode. I'll try it.

Thanks again. Even out of ammo, this game is great fun!

I screwed up, Gene. I forgot to include the updated Norwegian order of battle that has the correct ammo packs. I've reloaded the scenario with that OOB.

I'll send the OOB to you at your E-Mail address. You won't need new scenario files. Just unzip this file and load it into your main SPWAW directory.

Then the scenario should work as it is supposed to. My apologies, my friend...WB

Thanks Bill! Most appreciated. You guys' player support is as good as your games - and believe me, that's high praise.

Take Care,
