Guys,
Some of you may know that I have fan sites for several other Civil War series out there. I am going to create a new fan site for Forge of Freedom called the "Tredegar Iron Works" (TIR for short). If you have a mod and you are okay with me hosting it, please shoot me an email at
cwsg@brettschulte.net for further details. I am messing around with various styles right now, but I hope to have the site active within a few days. I'll post a URL here at that time.

I'm curious: why the title?

Gil,
One of my other fan sites is the Harpers Ferry Arsenal, and I wanted to have a similar period name for this one's title. You know, just to add a little historical "flair". [:)]

The site is far enough along that I'm going to post the URL here:
http://brettschulte.net/CWSG/
Keep in mind that this is still essentially a rough draft (comments don't work, site "look" isn't finalized, etc). I've wanted to mess around with Textpattern (a Content Management Program) for awhile now, so the site definitely is going to have a "bloggish" feel. Look for things with the "Browse" drop-down menu along the right hand side of the screen. If you don't like this format, by all means let me know. This is all still very up in the air and I might go to a less blog-like look if too many people don't like it.

Hi Murat
I downloaded and looked at your mod
to be honest, I am a bit scared of this one
it may not play out as you think it will, but the first few turns should really be fun for the slaughter happy folks out there (or me)
let you know how it turns out when I get back from the Union hall

greetings, thanks for the feedback, it is very appreciated, i intended to balance sides to have a stalemate situation, taking in mind the better
recruitment system by the confederacy and boost it up and give for the union the numerical advantage, maybe there are too much troops and
it required to boost up the victory points to 30 or more points but i do not know how to do that, battles can be much decisive all them, i like
the combined arms concept and was wanting to add cavalry and artillery for both sides to get more mixture on the armies on both sides,
again thanks for the feedback,
with best regards,
Murat30.

Howdy
I was able to fight though one turn after I got back from the hall this morning
I only had one battle, and while I won, it was a bloody fight, 10,000 for them and 12000 for me (but I took a Union Arty, so the numbers were really in my favor)
but as it was early, I didn't have many decent weapons
the higher Morale, means that the enemy is not going to break on a good volly or two, so a lot of times, units are going to be shot dead
overall, not really sure if the increase across the board to be correct, maybe add a point or 2 to each unit, which would then still give you some good and some poor units, and not sure if all the Arty Bdes will be a good thing, but it is even across the board, so it may work out

I like it, I like it, very ruff battles so far, got to really dig your toes in and work
but
okay first battle as I said, I took 12,000 the Union took 10,000 and lost a Arty
next turn, 1st battle, the Union lost 15,877 and 2 Artie, the 2nd battle the Union lost 12,422 and lost 1 arty
the CSA lost 8,154 and 3,533 (2nd battle I had a very good defence area to set up in)
which will say, I think a part of my losses are I am going out of my way to take away the Guns when I get the chance (but 4 free Arty Bdes for the CSA is a Major bonus)
not sure if the Union can take 38,000 losses in the first two turns (plus 4 Guns and 9 Bdes Powed)
which I am not sure how the battle will change once the Winter freeze is overwith, but I think I now have a big edge for holding my lands (little worried about the flank of Vig, it is 72,000 to 36,000 (but I got 12 pounders guns and mainly soild Rifles there now)
Will say though, it has been enjoyable, and 2 of the 3 battles were up in the air and took some work to gain the edge

greetings, i am very glad that you are enjoying the scenario, glad to heard it, the union player for the offensive on the begining, maybe for the first two
years or so, them must arrange much troops, given the defender got the morale bonus of +2.0, 25 brigades to 15 brigades is a 1.6 to 1 and may or may not be enough to make offensive, i are glad that you report it is possible to battle and the victory conditions don't finish the game, it is what more worry me for my scenario, the key to avoid it is to my concern to stablish a equation and stablish all order of battle with this equation as mandatory,
about federal defeats maybe i can argue that history is that union only start to defeat confederation at strategic level and will from 1863 onwards, first battles on eastern theater at manassas and prelude to gettysburg at chancellorville are great defeats for the union, and on gettysburg robert e. lee takes the offensive, that it is what i think what defeat confederates on the battle at last term, i have make changes to the files on main data folder but do not want to share them as can cause problems for the users to replace files on the main folder, tweak springfields some up and just after it all others initial guns, maybe reducing the time to field and build an artillery brigade can do the work to restrength the federal army,
thanks you very much for the feedback and comment on the scenario,
with best regards,
Murat30.
