WaW won't play

I've successfully loaded WaW and the patch 1202, however when I try lauch the game - by either the "play" button on the pop-up menu or the "quick start" selection on the start menu - I get the following windows message: "WaW executable has encountered a problem and must shut down." And that's as far as I get. What can I do?

Since A World Divided has not been patched yet, I'm assuming you are talking about the original WaW. You should post a note in the WaW support forum, although there are a lot of similarities between WaW and WaW:AWD. Please post a DirectX Dialog report on your system as that might help us figure out what might be wrong with your system. Usually a crash before the game starts is related to an old sound or video driver, or to a 3rd party codec that is not compatilble with WaW.
