Air Group - Out of Memory Bug

How do I get around or fix, if it can be fixed, the out-of-memory error message when I try to give orders to my air groups on CV's?
Thanks,
Bowden Russell

You need a min. of 610k of conventional memory! This is an old DOS game so you need to alter you autoexec.bat and config.sys and load everything into high memory. Don't forget to load the Hi-Mem manager! I had the same problem and a friend helped me reconfigure my machine.

Please see thread Scrambled Number Fonts for example on how to configure your machine.

Join the club - I have tried every suggestion on these forums but have had no luck getting any more ram to run this baby. WIN ME does NOT like this game and I have given up trying to make it work. So I just play it without being able to screw with the CV's a/c.

Hi there,
I have the same problem over and over again in every platform/PC I played. But you can still use your a/c in the CV's using the keyboard. The spacebar or any other key will take you to the funny message and the details for the air group. Once there, the keys C or M will let you change the type of airplane (if possible, otherwise, nothing will happen) and the mission. This worked for me in W95, W98 and NT.
Hope it helps!
Regards,
Eloy

Eloy's right, you can get around the fuzzy screen by just hitting spacebar, or your mouse button, then hit either 'C' to change air group, or 'M' to change the mission. It isn't perfect, but, if there is anyone to blame, it is Bill Gates for refusing to make Window's DOS compatible.

you will find two types of resposes to this.
The winme crowd who will truthfully tell you to give up and the witch doctor rest who will tell you about what worked on their lost cousins brothers aunties win 98 machine. If you run WINME buy a new game and forget pacwar.
ps i have done this no regrets and I dont have a cross word for pacwar.
ps your q/a is identical to 5+ months ago so dont be conned into thinking some deep thought lives in matrix/mps.
pps I am about to buy a matix game so dont think they aint got good guys either.

Well, the bug in question is not wether the game plays or not, but, wether air groups on board ships can be activated. The solution DOES work, as, it is on my computer and I can get around it.
brisd said that he can play the game, but, cannot access aircraft. Many people with similar systems can and cannot access the game. I have tried it on both 95 and 98 and it works fine, others on both 95 and 98 cannot get it working at all. Some people with WINME can get it to work, with the CV Air group bug, others cannot even get the thing to load. So, saying that if you have WINME then forget it might be a bit too much.
17pdr, nobody is trying to con anyone. Please if you don't have anything constructive or polite to say, don't say anything.

Well now, that was certainly helpful. If you have any other pearls of wisdom, 17pdr, by all means let yourself be heard.
