Unit Icon attack strength

It has been a long time since I played ACOW 1.04, now I bought TOAW III mainly because of the improved AI that apparently can do more than frontal attacks. Usually i play on 3d map and just want to know what the extra value on the attack indicator is supposed to represent, i.e. a unit with 12+5 what does the 5 represent.

One thing I find rather annoying particularly on the larger scenarios like DNO is having to search for special units like railway engineers, pioneers and bridging units. These should be a different colour so they can be found easier, or am I missing something? I wonder whether the PO actually uses its artillery? Having tried this I see it is more effective, in ACOW
it hard hardly any effect and tanks are now more potent against infantry.

When I can pull myself away from Medieval Total War II, IL2 Sturmovik 46, I guess I will going to bed at 2am every day from now on!! Finally I would like to see TOAW modelled like MTW II, imagine floating over a large realistic map of Europe and being able to go to any location and fight a real time battle in a world wat II setting - that would be really something: but for now just dreaming.

It's Anti-personel plus anti-tank strength.

Yeah in the larger scenarios it can be a pain to search for them. The only improvement TOAW3 has brought with this issue is that clicking the HQ button now not only brings the HQs to the top of the strack, but also the artillery when you click again.
Anyway you can go manually throug your units with pressing the N button. The cursor will then move to the next unit in the OOB. when you know that your railway enginers are assigned to a certain higher HQ, i.e. an Army or an Army Group you can click that HQ (provided you find it..lol) and then press N until you find the rail engineers or whatever. All in all, the PO has been significantly improved - it now also 'knows' when his flanks are turned and will react smarter.
Effectiveness of artillery is always better in direct support of a ground attack than in mere bombardment, the PO now limits himself to pure bombardment on some turns, some combat rounds etc.
Tanks have not been made more potent against infantry afaik.

And happy holidays to you!

Thanks Telumar wherever you are, your comments are helpful. Thought I read somewhere that armour was now more effective against infantry, certainly seems that way when I play the game now, maybe I imagine this. What am I doing playing this on Xmas day anyway!!

Seasons greetings to you too, Cheers
