Victory?

Well, I just finished my first game (I think). I took all the Strategic and Victory cities the Brits needed in the 1775 scenario, and the victory page noted that they were all taken. However, I notice the game goes on playing. Which is nice I guess for those who like to keep playing after the end...but it leaves me kinda wondering...did I really win the war? Other than thru checking the victory page, I never would have known, really; there was no fanfare there at the end at all, like most other games have.
So I won, right? I'm not missing anything??? [&:]

Are you playing the 1775 Campaign or a smaller scenario? I believe the smaller scenarios can be continued but the Campaigns will generate a Victory message when you achieve the victory conditions.

If you win, you should get an event with a fanfare yes!
If you are playing the Brits, you can win with a sudden victory by taking all objectives and the needed number of strategic town BEFORE the French arrives. If not, this will be long and painful, as you lose the possibility of sudden victory and have to fight until 1783 for the check.
The Americans can always win by sudden victory.
