Blank menues

I had the Battlefront version of "For Liberty" and it worked fine.
After hearing about the free serial number exchange from Matrix Games I got me a new serial and downloaded the full game (incl. 1848).
Uninstalled my Battlefront version, installed the Matrix version and installed the new 1.75 patch.
But after starting the game the menue is all blank ! No text on the buttons or pictures; just the plain buttons and if I click one, a blank window pops up !
Uninstalled it and installed it again (now without the patch): still the same.
What could be the problem ?
BTW; I installed the game not in the C:\Matrix Games\For Liberty folder, but in a folder called C:\Games\For Liberty
1848 works fine !!!
