-- had a lot of trouble with the HTML in this post - sorry for the mess. But it shows the complete dispostion of the Pacific Fleet (except Pearl Harbor). Very interesting and potential input for OOB work.

"alternate" OBC I'm working on begins on 8 Dec 41 if you have any info/input on that. That way Pearl results would be "hardwired" into the game. Input on appropriate "gamey" damage levels for individual ships would be appreciated as well.

Any good websites for what went on theatre wide on 7 Dec 41? AC strengths as well? Basically, I'd like to input "historical" 7 Dec results/activities, then pick the game up there. That way there's none of this "Bad day at Blackrock" stuff when Pearl gets everything whacked desperately.

Sorry, all I have been able to find is as of December 7th.

Off the top of my head:

Lexington, Indianapolis, and Louisville groups went to Pearl.

Pensacola Group Diverted to Australia

W.W. Burrows diverted to Johnson Island

Rest generally continued to destination.

We are also planning a Post Pearl harbor OBC41 scenario. However, it should start on the Afternoon of December 7, 1941, just after the raid on Pearl Harbor. The only things you need to change are damage to ships, air group damage (all at Pearl only) and the destination of the IJN TF 1 (back to home).

The reason that this would be better than a December 8 game, is, that the IJNAF and IJAAF would get TWO pontential air raid results in the Pacific. If you leave the planes damaged at Clark and Singapore like they were historically on December 8 1941, then the start of your game will result in a FURTHER annihilation of these forces, leaving Allied air power historically TOO weak.

Plus, the OBC will give you problems if you change the starting date for December 8, 1941. It doesn't like being fiddled with.

Thanks for the Info. I was contemplating adding those two Omaha CL's to the 1941 orbat, but, since they played no actual part until late in the war (being quickly transferred to the Atlantic) it would be unfair to give the Allies these two extra ships for the battles in 1941-42.

Unfortunately we cannot add all of the AV and AVD type ships due to space limitations.

I'm very much looking forward to War in The Pacific and it's ability to handle the smaller types - AVD, DM/DMS, PG, etc.

Also, there is an unused position at the end of the "ships" section of the OOB. Using the numbering system of the (very nice) Excel based OOB editor, it would be position 999. It is in the subs group and must be used for submarines, but I have experimented with it and it works fine.
