Sorry if this has been reported already...
While playing the '41 campaign as Allies v. the computer, non-historical, a Japanese engineer unit attached to GHQ appears in New Caledonia. Can't do anything with it, it's just there. Don't recall when it appeared, but it was there by 7/42.

I have seen these guys as well when I played Allies vs the computer.
For me they appeared in Efate (next to Espiritu Santo). I can't remember the exact circumstances that made them appear there, so I never reported the bug, but it had something to do with starting to form a transport TF, then changing my mind and removing it. After I did this (or something along those lines) the phantom Engineer unit, which is coloured black and is shown as being attached to Imperial GHQ, appeared on Efate. I wasn't too concerned as they began to build up the base! After a while they teleported to another island (Palmyra I think). I never tried to transport them anywhere because I didn't want to risk crashing the game, so I left them alone. They didn't seem to be doing any harm...

I had a similar thing happen with a US Division teleporting into Truk!
Unfortunately Truk had a few divisions present so I lost the division.
Can't remember which one but it appeared early-mid 43.

The 6th Inf starting at Truk has been documented before as well as the 38th Inf Div starting in China.
I believe someone (Major Tom?) posted that these were addressed in v2.2, IIRC.
I could be wrong.

Yes, I have fixed the 6th and 38th Bug.
I have seen the Engineer bug as well, but, it probably has something to do with things being on a TF. I'll try and work it out.

I have had a couple of oddities show up in my game. I have the 38th Inf Brigade sitting in San Fran and it is attached to the Imperial GHQ.
Also I lost some divisions in early assults on Shortland and when they showed up again they are assigned to the West Coast HQ (though I think that is just for initial training and I am expecting them to change HQ later).

There is no 38th Brigade. There are the 2 38th Divisions (IJA and US Army).
I am pretty sure that once a US Army division is killed in the field that it comes back. I am not sure wether or not it transferrs HQ from West Coast though.
Once I managed to kill off all Chinese armies, and occupy all of their territory. When I went to invade the West Coast, the Chinese armies were there, and they were attached to the West Coast. That was around 1-2 years after the fact.
I think that the computer leaves these divisions attached to West Coast. Maybe for the reason that if the US is losing divisions, that maybe the West Coast will be attacked soon?

Hello,
My mistake that was the 83 Bde. At least I hope that is correct, I am on the other side of the atlantic so I can't check. I noticed that one of the divisions I lost came back and I managed to get it out of the west coast but the other ones are attached to the west coast HQ. I hope I haven't lost them permanently to that HQ since another division I suspect is about to surrender.
I realy don't follow why a single division which got over 3000 supply points has a supply rating the next week of 40 (the one that is in danger of surrendering)...I am making the round trip to bring in more supplies and reinforcements but I suspect that the division holding the beach won't survive to greet them, which given the number of supply ships which off loaded supplies is nuts.

I'm pretty sure the only way you can get those divs back from the West Coast HQ is to use pwedit to assigned them a new HQ. That is how I always fixed this problem.

There is a "phantom" engineer in the game I am currently playing. It is on Guadalcanal, which was occupied by the US Americal division. The Engineer label is "2nd Engineers" (which implies it is allied), and if I look at it in PacWarEdit it shows up in the slot for the 2nd Marine Engineers, but has nationality code 200 (which is the code, I think, for dead units). In PacWarEDit, in fact, all the killed units are showing nationality code 200, type code 0, location 0, and HQ code 0. Location code 0 means they are nowhere on the map, but HQ code 0 means IGHQ and type code 0 means engineers.
I think the engineer in my case arrived on a transport that was sunk at Guadalcanal before unloading, thus causing the bug of not resetting location to 0. It may only happen to units that are type code 0 to begin with.

Also, a Japanese unit is still showing up on Bikini Atoll, late 1943 (OBC42) and the Marus are still showing up in San Francisco.
MajTom: Have you been to SF lately. Clearly the event you described with the Chinese armies showing up on the West Coast is based on historical fact. Amazing.

The "Marus" issue is simply a matter of adjusting the OB via the editor. If you have problems with this, let me know on this thread and I can give directions (it is not very hard, and something easily overlooked by the development team). Secretly, I can also give an editor tip that makes Japan a much tougher foe: restore the Nates to cannon value 2 and give them range of 3!
The extra allied units showing up in SF (the Dutch do it too) is a matter of the game's routine of returning detroyed allied units to combat after one year, imo. That can be edited out as well, if you prefer.
