I'm not sure what you're asking for. The manual is on .pdf format, and can be opened by using the free Adobe Reader software. If you're asking for someone to use their printer, and print the manual for you, I think you might have a hard sell going. You may also want to mention whether you're willing to pay for the time, effort, materials and shipping.

Hey Peter: I'm pretty sure that print shops will print and bound the manual for you for about $20 USD. I'm not sure you guys have a Kinko's there in .....where you are.

The help file also should contain the same material as the manual

Well maybe I'll do an Indian mutiny scenario. Then I'll definitely need an "elephant team" equipment type for hauling around the heavy siege mortars.

I was thinking porter squads with different graphics. I thought of higher defence ratings for a moment but elephants are difficult to coerce if they're alarmed so in practice they could be taken out of the picture fairly easily.

Well the fact is that real ancient battles were nearly impossible to control. You want the game to be realistic but still be a game: trouble is that's more or less impossible. At their best, ancient tactics were about carrying out a pre-arranged plan, but most of the time they were about just laying into the other guy until somebody broke.
If you want to do any of these things with TOAW, you'd have to either go strategic (which I don't believe is your interest) or cut out the player entirely. Generals just didn't have an input in pre-modern battles the way they have done over the last couple of centuries.

..beg to differ almost, yup it has to be to a pre-arraigned (sp) plan, but so are all battles on whatever scale, direct control in toaw is reduced by playing the with the force communication, force prof etc and as an ultimate, the EvilEd, the latter especially fore unwilling/forced levy units..
.what we don't have is elephants..

Well, no. Obviously one has to have a plan, but get to the modern era and things get tweaked part way through. Alexander made sure everyone was set up and then drew his sword and got stuck in: There was nothing left for him to do as commander.

What you might consider is allowing the player to set the objectives for the PO- this would be the closest one can get.
Of course, TOAW's also not a tactical game. Considerations like line of sight aren't involved. How do you make sure that you can see that cavalry column that's in the plain but not the hoplites behind the hill? You can't: TOAW doesn't allow for any such distinction.

..no toaw's not a tactical game, but pls, first, understand that "tactical" varies according to the throw range of the weapons involved..
..as for yr hill, if most weapons only have a range of 1 then....
..anyway, it's late, and so 'night Ben..
..see you in a week, weather permitting..it is the rainy season after all...

Sure. But a battle is still a tactical situation.

I'm not talking about whether you can fire on them, but whether you can see them. How does Lake Trasimene go when the Romans can see the main Carthaginian force waiting for them behind the hills, but not the force luring them into the open along the edge of the lake?

..no, a "battle" could stretch over several kilometers, toaw takes over at the point where "the bullets stop flying around your ears", Norm's line for toaw1, or Talonsoft's, toaw takes over where the East Front series stops..
..just how easy do you think it is to move even a motorised division from one flank to another, all that changes is scale and weapon range..
..i think you've got a strategic fixation..
..and as far as seeing troops goes, set any map wide recon to 0, altho i think it should start at something before everybody starts using all those dirty ol gunpowder weapons then drop progressively ...
..oh, and the bulldozer finally did it's stuff today, init great, there's a country smaller than England and it's previous occupier/invaders couldn't even give it a decent road system..super-powers, k-m-a

Well, I can tell you it's much easier with radios than with runners.

OK. So how do the Romans see the 'lure' fleeing before them on the lakeside?

I imagine the state of affairs when they left was a lot better than when they arrived.

In other words, you want to program line-of-sight spotting just for the benefit of your own peculiar use of TOAW. That's an enormous addition to the program. I can imagine dozens of better uses for Ralph's time.

I dunno. Maybe I'm referring to the fact that the Philippines actually has a relatively modern economy, making the country significantly wealthier than comparable states such as Indonesia (without the latter's oil).
