Some suggestions and thoughts...

Let me say first off that I will purchase Pure Sim every year that it is put out, regardless of what direction it goes. That being said, I thought I'd chime in with some thoughts and suggestions. There are some nitpicking things and some larger issues that have been bugging me, so I thought I'd see if anyone else had any similar thoughts...
I'd like to have the ability to let team performance dictate the amount of money available to spend on talent each season. I like the idea of disappointing the owner and thus not being given the seasonal blank check.
I would like to see salaries make more sense in general. A major league minimum salary would be nice to see, with lower salaries for minor league players who aren't drafted by any teams. I would like to see in season signings have their salaries pro-rated according to the amount of time left in the season.
As for the drafts, I would love to see the abundance of no name players over 23 taken out o the amateur pool. I don't mind if they're available in the free agent pool - though anyone over 30 who hasn't ever been signed should probably just disappear to keep things a little more streamlined. It has also always bugged me that there is always an older talented pitcher available in the draft - I have trouble making up a story that makes sense - has he been playing in Japan, or what? I never draft that pitcher as I feel it's kinda cheating myself out of the challenge, but it bugs me that other teams have the ability to take him.
In terms of free agency, I guess it's nitpicking but it bugs me when it says "Draft" at the top of the screen between weeks... As others have said it would be nice for the AI to not leave so many impact players undrafted - I know this has to do with payroll, - maybe retiring more of the scrubs every year would help this out in some way, I don't know... The potential roster fodder guys that get left over should realistically come to grips witht he fact that they may have to sign a major league minimum deal and forget about the 7,000,000 they made in a bad contract before being released for bad performance.
I don't really like the fact that the lowest paid players are indescribably bad in so many categories. I can kind of see it but it seems too easy to cop out and sign a bunch of $50,000 scrubs to fill up the minors with their 0-8 records and .125 batting averages in single A. Even the lowest scrubs signable should be able to hack out a .200 or a 5.00 ERA in single A. Seems to me the hopeless filler scrubs would pack it in or go play semipro ball back home.
It would be nice to see my players and players that have been in my organization before listed at the top of the new retirees list.
I would like to be able to set my own guidelines for the end of season awards, as I rarely agree with the picks and have a hard time seeing how the players are chosen. As for Rookie awards, as others have said, September callups shouldn't end someone's chance of being in the running in the following season.
I'm sure I'll think of more soon, but now I have to go play the game.
AS always, unbelievable work, Mr. Sullivan. I can't wait for 2008. It sounds like it's headed even further in the right direction.
