Couple of new questions.

From what I read in the forum is 07/2008 is the release date. If that is true any chance that any of the programers might be at Origins for the release? Also, I think I read that 20 is the number of beta testers which is cool and everything but as we get closer to the above date any chance that the pool of beta types would increase? Oh, got a new question. On strategic bombing, I think this is an option rule in the board game if anyone knows for sure let me know. When your flying a Strategic bomber to a target hex will you be able to fly intercept only over target hex or will you be able to intercept them enroute if it has to fly over other stationed fighter garrisons? That's it for now[;)]

(1) Shannon is the programmer he lives in Hawaii.

(2) This has happened once already it could happen again.

(3) Option 51: En-route Aircraft Interception: Instead of only being able to intercept a bomber at its target hex, this option lets you intercept it along the way.

Travel:
David Heath & I have tentative plans for me being at Origins in 2008. I went to 4 Origins back in the 1980's (3 in Baltimore and 1 on Staten Island), but I lived in Philadelphia then.

I have tentative plans on visiting my in-laws in Geneva in the latter half of May, 2007. That will include a side trip to meet Patrice, somewhere near Avignon.

Erik Rutkins (Matrix Games) believes we should double the number of beta testers (to 40) when we get farther along in development.

Carpet bombing is an optional rule, but not strategic bombing.

There are several optional rules related to air mission interception. Besides the one Mziln mentioned, there are night missions and limited aircraft interception.

Option 51: (En-route aircraft interception) Instead of only being able to intercept a bomber at its target hex, this option lets you intercept it along the way. Announce your target hex. If your opponent wants to intercept you en-route, move your bomber up to 4 movement points (i.e. 1, 2, 3 or 4). Then move it up to another 4 points. Keep repeating this until you reach the target hex.

After you reach one of these way stations, you can fly escorting fighters there. Your opponent can then fly interceptors. You can then fly interceptors to the way station. Then you fight a normal air-to-air combat.

After the air-to-air combat, surviving bombers can continue on to the next station. Surviving escorting fighters can continue on with them but only if their range is sufficient to reach that station. Escorting fighters that don’t continue, and all intercepting fighters, must return to base. Bombers don’t need to continue - they can choose to return to base after each combat.

After the mission is over you return to base normally, there are no way stations on the way back.

Option 57: (Limited aircraft interception) In addition to the above restrictions, a fighter cannot intercept if it is flying further than the longest distance flown to the hex/hexdot by any enemy aircraft.

Here are the writeups on these 3 optional rules as they appear on the screen when you call up contextual help (when starting a new game and deciding on which optional rules to include).

I am wondering why you mentioned "Carpet bombing" it is not part of Chaylaton's post.

Carpet bombing is an optional rule, but not strategic bombing.
For completeness ?
Strategic bombing is not an optional rule of WiF (& MWiF), which means it is a normal rule, it is included in WiF.

One skill I have developed over the years of programming, is to make good guesses at when things get confused/go wrong. My guess was the strategic bombing was being confused with carpet bombing.

[:D] Just for fun. The rule is actualy 11.7 Strategic bombardment not Strategic bombing. [:D]
