I've had MFB<ironically my initials> for about 2 weeks now and have been really impressed at how goot this is for something that didn't have 15 developers working on it. It looks like I'm actually going to use it for my offseason Canadian league to my NFL based sim league <www.mbsportsnet.com/mbfl/mbfl.htm>

That being said I have notice a few things that I think would really help certain portions of the game and interface surrounding it

The Canadian Game IMO needs no help. It really looks and plays like a CFL game. Since we don't actually play our games, we treat them like we were broadcasting the game all cpu vs. cpu. It really is amazing the variety in playbooks out there and the variety of gameplay. The community has taken this aspect and run with it.

The American Game I haven't even played with. I just don't have a reason to use MFB forthis although it appears to play similar to Canadian.

Here's where my issues come in:

Indoors I see a lot of really weird scores when I simulate games and the reason appears to be clear as well. It looks like the goal posts are NFL/CFL regulation size and position, thus about 10 yards lower then an Indoor set and wider as well. This means we have kickers bombing FGs from all over the field, even inside their own endzone. Having more appropriate goal posts would really help the overall quality of the Indoor game. Even better would be having rebound nets similar to what exists in the AFL, although I recognize that may not be possible. The big thing to me is just seeing 86-85 point games with 9-10 Field Goals in a game. I'd love to run an indoors simulation with MFB as well, but in its current state I'd have to say the Indoor game is just too unrealistic to really run a sim league with.

Having now thrown out my play/simulation issue let me get to the interface. Not being able to deal players is kind of a drag but I have found ways around this. Not having a financial system actually works really good for me because I don't want one for the leagues I'm running. I do think it's extraordinarily difficult to load a created roster for a team into another league. To me it seems there's just no way it should be as difficult as it is, with people creating special Access DBs just to load up graciously created CFL rosters. Gotta be a better way and looking at the formats, there should be a better way. It's almost like it is currently set up to make this more difficult, when in my opinion, for a sim that really does a good job of allowing customization, this should be an easy thing to do.

Aside from this I am really enjoying MFB. It's a worthy addition to my collection of football sims and hopefully it will change and grow to remain something I use on a weekly basis for simulating games.

Thanks For Your Time,

Michael Bedard

Welcome to the community!

I agree. The Play Development System is a great feature. It is one of the most advanced playmaking utilities in a football computer game that is now available.

Having an optional financial system would be a great addition to the game. David has it on his future list of things to do for upcoming versions of the game. With an independent title, support now is critical for the future success of the game.

Because Maximum-Football uses many open source files for players, it is much easier than a game like Madden, but it could be easier with dedicated import utilities.

Great! Thank you for providing feedback.

I hope that Maximum-Football will prove to be the game for your league in the future.
