I just got the game and it is very enjoyable. I have been downloading some playbooks. Do you unzip them into the MF playbook directory? How do you assign teams a playbook?

Thanks

This is what I do.   Unzip them to the main Max Football Dir.  Then start up Max football.  Then click on the bottom right where it says Utility set.  A little box appears top left.  Click play book, then create new playbook.  Then change max players to 11 if it's an NFL thing.  Name your playbook.  Then another box comes up.......Then import playbook.  The playbook you unzipped.  Then export playbook to save it.   It works a little diff. with the NML playbooks, but for the rest i'm pretty sure it's like that.  Maybe someone else can give you better tips.

For my playbooks unzip the the file, you will have a folder with the plays and playbook phone files in it.  Just copy the contents of the folder to the plays folder in the max football directory. Then when you go to assign playbooks to teams the playbooks should be available to be choosen.

But if you do it that way, it can overwrite other plays with the same name.

If I understand David correctly each play is given a name/number by the game when they are created an saved and this name/number has something componant that deals with the date or time, so plays shouldnt have the same name/number.  Yes people that create plays can give a play a name, and someone else could create a play and could also give it the same name.  But the game doesnt look at that name, the game looks at the name/number that it assigned to the play.   So even if there are two plays named I right 24 dive in the plays folder, they could each be in a different playbook because the playbook is using the name/number that the game assigned as the base name, the creator name is just used to identifiy it on the play calling screen.  If this isnt correct maybe some one else can give us the correct version.

In the example I gave of a play named I right 24 dive, if you look in the plays folder you will not find that play, the names listed in that folder are the names given by the game.

If you have plays from the default playbooks then it's better to import.  We had problems in our multiplayer league and we found out it was just better to import the plays to avoid overwriting files.

Plays that are modified will overwrite the old plays.

New plays will just be added to the folder.

This is correct. Play file organization is done via a unique number ID rather than the play name to avoid situations where two people create a 'Dive Right' play and one overwrites the other.

If you edit an existing file you can run into situations where you may overwrite someone elses file (for example, someone edits the stock plays). But new plays will always have a new unique number ID.

And yes, the number is based on system time, so the chances of two people generating two different plays at exactly the same millisecond of system time on two different machines is fairly remote.

But if that does happen, a rift opens in the space/time continuum and Kirk was never killed in Generations.

Sorry :-) I await punishment by a Mod..couldnt resist, too much Star Trek over the years.

Fascinating ....

The Nexus does indeed reflect many possibilities of alternative universes and multitudes of playbooks.

I will have to report this to the Empire and my operatives on Vulcan.
