Air craft replacement and reinforcement????

If you transfer from an airbase rating of 5 to a 2, I assume the excess planes unable to be used get added to the pool. When the rating increases to a three, four etc how do you add planes to the squadron?

Also, how do you create (???) a new squadron. In Guadalcanal I want to add to the air squadrons to the south pacific with out transferring from Central Pacific. Can I create a new squadron from the pools of aircraft?

Thanks.

Tom,

The answer to your first question.

No, the planes become damaged, and do not return to the pool. As planes are destroyed at the base the damaged planes can be repaired to get the squadron up to the airbase limit. Although I believe if you move that air group to another base afterwards then the damaged planes go back into the pool. The game adds or reinforces air groups to its airfield or squadron limit as long as the base is not isolated and well supplied.

Answer to the second question.

No, you can not just create a air group at a friendly base. After the start of the game new airgroups originate at San Francisco, Sydney, and India bases, timed by the OBC files. You will need to transfer an air group to Guadalcanal if you need one.

MJ

Thanks MJ. So, the listing of airgroups in SF (which a lot of them have 4 aircraft) are my choices. Are those replacement squadrons earmarked for a specific HQ's?

Tom,

Air Groups are attached to the same command of the base that they are at. Unlike LCUs showing up at S.F. that are attached to S.W. Pacific, or Central Pacific.

Tom,

Check out a thread I created called "Build-Up of Air Groups" started on March 23. This will explain how reinforcements of air groups work.
