Scenarios and the Release Candidates

Quick questions:

How do the new features/fixes/etc. of the release candidates (and the eventual 3.8 final) work with older scenarios? I've heard suggestions of incompatibility, but nothing definite.

I'm wondering specifically about scenarios from the PlayersDB and from the DB2000 project. What kind of problems will I see if I run these with the latest release candidate?

Paul,

I can only speak for my scenario's created for the PlayerDB. I have about 10 that I tested and released for 3.7.0 (the latest official release). Everything should work for those scens in 3.7.0. I have around 25 more scens published only for 3.6.3 because I know they don't work in ANW.

I have retested many but not all in 3.7.3/3.8.RC5. in at least half I noticed issues -- sometimes critical (like AI missions not working the way they did in 3.6 which actually makes the vicconds impossible to trigger in ANW) and sometimes less critical (wrong targets attacked by AI which makes the AI less effective as an opponent)

For the moment I cannot recommend my PlayerDB scens for 3.8RC5. My scens should only be played in 3.6.3 (all scens) or in 3.7.0 (those I released specifically for that). I may retest (which is an enormous amount of work) after the next offical release of 3.8.

Think there's in excess of 220 scenarios at Harpoon HQ, once 3.8 is finalised those will be tested and released once we can be sure they are compatible. Most work fine at present, but on some the AI is not behaving as the writer intended. They are certainly playable, but usually slightly easier to win than was the design.
I know Paul has a separate section for the Colonial Wars scenarios compatible with 3.7.3.
If anyone wants to help with the retesting process please let us know [:)].
