Aaargh! The dreaded disappearing unit bug! They just fixed this in WitP I think so it might be worth Tanker getting in touch with Don to find out how. Is this in a PBEM or against the AI? If PBEM can you not replay the turn before to see if it happens again?

There are actually several dozen different disappearing unit issues. Michael Wood fixed about half of them before Don and I got involved with the code last March, and since then we have fixed about 10 more. Each situation needs to be analyzed individually. It could be that one of the WITP fixes will help in this case, but the analysis has to be done first and that is the time consuming part. The fixes are usually one line changes to update unit pointers or other values.
But Michael is the code owner for WPO, so Tanker/Terminus will need to test the save and if the error is reproducible, pass it on to Michael for analysis.
===
Avoiding fragments and divided units will minimize the disappearing unit issues, and while this is not always possible (like when loading on a group of ships) trying to keep the different parts of a unit all in one place, as much as possible, is a good rule of thumb.

Yea the thing that is weird about this situation is they were both whole units. They were sitting in the city and one day i was going to move them north into soochow and they disappeared.

You will need a save from just before they disappear. Like they are there, then run the turn, then they are not there. That is the save you need to send, I guess to Tanker, not sure if Terminus is doing "support".

Get me a save from before it disappears, and I can send it to Mike. A save with the unit already disappeared won't be of any help in locating the bug...

Was checking the data base editors for the 1926 and Dreadnought scenarios the other day and have seen alot of units (air, naval & LCUs) with 999999 for arrival dates.
Also noticed in the Dreadnought scenario data base there are some small Dutch air units with arrival dates (can't recall exact dates) yet in the air reinforcements list in the scenario none are listed.

9999 indicates that the unit will not arrive in the scenario. Each scenario, whether used or not, contains the entire game's database. 9999 indicates that the ship, LCU, air unit, etc will not be used in the scenario and therefore will not be on map nor in the reinforcement list.

When you find the save before they disappeared, if it is repeatable, send it to
tankerace_42@hotmail.com and with password (have your opponent email me his password too) and I'll forward to Mike.

well -1 turn has me losing 1 division but the 3rd indian division is still there. So i'm going to goto turn -2 hopefully it iwll have both divisions and you will be able to fix it. It looks like the 2 divisions disappeared on different turns. but hopefully you can fix it before hand.

I mean i will even pay for the trouble to fix the save if it has to be a custom programming thing. I just want to finish this game.

Ok, email me your password and have your opponent do the same (I won't give it out) so that I can access it, and I'll pass it to Mike.

Ok.... are you sure a unit disappeared? I did locate an OOB error, in that there are unfortuneatly 2 3rd Indian Divisions in the game. However, they both arrive as reinforcements (this is in stock). I loaded up your save (which by the way is for 1/8, not 1/7) and discovered that both 3rd Indian Divisions are in your reinforcement pool, slated to arrive in a few years....
The only other "3rd Indian" is a unit that is on the map, safely away from the battle....
Can you confirm what unit you mean disappeared?

Oops sorry

1st Indian division and FR SHANGHAI
in hangchow. ANd i was using the date from the corresponding combatreport not the actual turn. But if you run this turn the next turn the FR SHANGHAI will disappear. And if you run another turn or 2 the 1st indian division will disappear. Sorry for my confusion
