Oops! I figured since the sector my fleet was in was pretty devoid of enemy starships that I would try an assault on Lovo Base. Well I just figured that lovo base was a Starbase as thats what it was called in the forces menu. At the outset of the mission, I set my fleet to do a quantum jump to Lovo and begin a sweep toward the center. I then hit accept and promptly hit the autonav.

After a rather lengthy load time, My cruiser and its accompanying fleet appeared a few thousand feet above the surface of a planet! Amazingly enough, the game didnt crash. Instead my Devestator class cruiser just exploded (along with the rest of my fleet).

Im thinking a demotion from the rank of Admiral is in order. Surely the needless destruction of 3 cruisers and a destroyer would call for no less..?[:-]

I'm thinking that the fact you could get your squad to kill themselves in this manner is a bug.

You'd think so wouldn't you? I'm guessing it's another bug/typo as I can't come up with a good explanation as to why you have starbases on planets.

Well jumping to a planet isnt normally possable as they dont appear in the normal quantum destination list. I had to manually set the nav pts for all the ships in the navigation menu. Its not a big problem considring the extraordinary means you must go to just to kill yourself with it. I must admit tho that I was able to send other ships to the planet by themselves and they did not crash. Dont know if they killed anything tho....
