Help,
I know most people will think I'm nearly brain-dead, but I cannot figure out how to utilize detailed combat instead of quick combat. I have tried all the option settings that I thought would help, but every game ends up using quick combat and the option for detailed combat in the preference menu is grayed out and cannot be activated. Someone have pity on an ole southern boy from Virginie.

Strange. Perhaps a dumb question, but are you trying a game against the AI, or PBEM? There's no detailed combat in PBEM.

I think I figured it out: did you choose "Basic Game"? In Basic Game you can only play quick combat. Try choosing "Advanced" and then just turning off the options you don't want. That should do the trick.

But I have tried Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced with every option picked or unpicked that might affect this strange occurance. When I first downloaded the game I was able to choose Detailed Combat, but I then chose "Always Quick Combat" and have not figured out how to get back.

Help anyone...Gil?
  Tried again against AI with Advanced Game option and went to play as Rebs, of course, and first battle was Quick Combat.  Checked on preferences page and again there was Detailed Combat with no box drawn around it and was unable to change option.  Any ideas, anyone?  I'm missing half the game.

Can i ask a quick question?
How large are the battle? cuz if 1 side only has low number of soldiers involved, u only get the QC option / instant.

  I fixed my detailed combat option not working.  I reloaded the game from my brand new CD that I just received (HA!!!) and it now works. Don't know what the problem was, mabye a corrupt file???  Anyhow, thanks again.  I have never encounter a game company that follows up on everything the way the Matrix boys do.

I'm glad to know it's working. Maybe Eric will have a guess about what was happening.

Forge of Freedom with out HW is more like Cast of Freedom

I think I have a similar problem. There is no way to get detailed combat to work. My sales option was digital download only so there isn't any backup copy I could use.


I think I've solved it deleting all the text in the forgeoffreedom.ini file and restarting the game. Now it works [:)]
