would have been nice...

Would be nice to have tool tips for the various interface buttons and icons. Seems strange not to have any for a game of this depth considering that most games these days do employ at least some.
A windowed mode would have been helpful too. Is there any way to have the hex data screen stay put rather than having to hold down the right-click button while scrolling the pop-up display? A huge pain to do on my notebook.

Lastly, I am dissapointed that there aren't any small scenarios included. Kind of hard to get the hang of the features and flow when you have to deal with so many units per turn, especially considering wasn't even a tutorial included.

Not one to criticize developers, but it seems that it could have been a little more user-friendly, especially for new players.

Actually there are tool tips- just right click on the item you want to know about.

Saipan is quite a small scenario- perfect intro- if you mess it up early on- just restart. Completed the campaign as the American in 3-4 hours. Now playing Novorasisk.

right clicking on most buttons will bring up a brief description of that button's purpose.

cheers

Right-click does indeed help for the buttons. Thanks, missed that. However, a floating tooltip would be nice for all the icons considering the vast array of symbols. But I guess that would be a lot of programing considering they are not really buttons.

Yeah, you are right about that also. Sorry, should have looked at Saipan a little closer before posting. The more I tinker with and read of the manual, the more I am enjoying this title. I think it will fit in nicely with the other Matrix games I have picked up lately.

Enough of that boring stuff, back to Saipan.

I really wish the manual had a key for what all the icons mean when you are looking at a unit! Im not talking about when you have it highlighted, Im talking about right clicking on it while it is in it's hex.

I had to guess as to what direct fire, recon, etc. were for the icons.  Still not sure what all the icons mean.

There is also no key for engineer units.  What do all the little icons under the attack bar mean?  Had I not played from KP on, I wouldnt know.

Agree...also am a KP, etc, veteran but still confused w/ many icons. One example, what does the blue die next to my attacked unit in the combat results mean?

I agree that there is quite a bit of symbology that isn't explained or obvious to me at least (I may be a bit slow on the uptake...)

At least the major functionality has the right button tool tips or are explained. You can't help but wonder if you are missing something important tho...
