Yep, so far from my first battle vs the AI I'm very impressed. I defended as the Russians, and in the old CC3 the AI couldn't do an assualt if it tried...
First thing it did that I wasn't so impressed with was send a Stug to it's death with no infantry support (got taken down by an ATR and some granades after I'd lost my AT gun to motars). Then I saw a few units moving about in the distance and though "Oh dear" the AI still plays like [censored]...
Amazingly after that the AI played an amazing game, and actually played with it's units cohesivly, attacking a single point! No more crawl of death, no more randly send 1 unit to the front line, and no more waste all your units and let the defenders take the map.
The AI actually offered a cease-fire when it had LOTS of stuff hidden in reserve. In the old CC3 then a cease-fire was basically saying "I've lost everything and my last few routed men are running off the map... please take the map from me...", but oh no, this time he was gonna actually defend the map and had plenty of stuff to do it!
The sure fire test of the AI will be seen when somebody ports over the Normandy landing maps; man did the AI suck at them... but I'll have to wait and see.

I got my butt served a couple of times during testing. That surely not often happend with the original CC3.

This is going to be the interesting (and sometimes unpredicatable) consequnces of mucking about with the AI. The possible permutations (outcomes) of any AI process are potentially huge. I am sure we are going to find it just as stupid (maybe even more so) at times, but I do believe you are going to get a better game play overall. It's the old CC3 addicts who should notice any changes better. For newbies, they haven't got that benefit, so it will also be interesting to hear what they have to say as well.

yes so far I am finding the AI a mixed bag.
I can do a basic setup , press begin, and return to the computer within 30 minutes to find I have had a decisive victory.
And yet an operation last night had me routed from the map within 15 mins - this was one of the new additions - very impressive to say the least.
Still, MP is the reason I bought it
cheers

Shouldnt the Soviet player (or AI) be easier to defeat in 1941? Im noticing that the Soviet 1941 AI seems to be waay to eager to fight and launches cohesive tank assaults against my poor type III's.
Shouldnt the Red Army then consist mostly of conscripts?

They are conscripts with commissars running behind them with a pistol!
