The higher HQ for 2nd Area Army is supposed to be South Army, which in turn is commanded by Imperial GHQ. But in a land battle I just had with that at a 2nd Area Army base the commanding officer for the battle was the leader of Combined Fleet. Is this a bug or is there some other explanation?

If you had a base commander, he failed his command check. Then, the top LCU in your stack was a unit attached to Combined Fleet. <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

Ah, that makes sense. The base was a Combined Fleet base in the past and the LCUs must still be assigned to Combined Fleet.

I had thought when you moved up the chain of command for a leader it was based on the HQ that location was assigned to, but apparently it is based on the HQ the top LCU is assigned to. Thanks for the clarification.

You should check your LCUs to make sure which HQ they are attached to. It is important when you are about to launch an amphibious invasion. It can be important for defense, as you just found out. I've forgotten which HQ gets charged the PP when an LCU moves overland, but you can do an experimental move or two and figure that out.

To change the HQ of an LCU to the HQ of the base where it is located, just activate the LCU.

the LCU if they are assigned to say SEC and you move them through a base controlled by 14 army they retain the SEC assgnment. if you activate the LCU assgned to SEC in a 14 army base then move them the are now assgned to the 14 army. i forget to activate LCU in the HQ i want and the PP point are subtracted from the HQ the unit is still assgned to.
