Gunboat bug?? NOT, NOPE!!!

GOOD NEWS!!!
***There was/is not a Gunboat bug!!!!***
Example: Take Memphis for instance, if you, the Confeds. in this instance, occupy the city and hence the sliver of the river province it is in, and the enemy has a Gunboat in the river, you do not control the province and will get little if any replacements. So, simply build a Gunboat down in New Orleans, and then head north and to the next river province beyond/north of the river province that Memphis is in and PRESTO!!!, the Yankee Gunboat goes away!!! Whether it retreats or sinks I dunna know, but it does dissappear without a battle in my case, and my troops under van Dorn could then enjoy Memphis for a bit and recoup themselves, besides getting very imbibed while recouping.
The Yankee Gunboat will still blockade a river province unless you bring up your own Gunboat to make the Yankee Gunboat go away. To me, this is relaistic, since Yankee Gunboats in effect were cruising up an down the Miss. River, the Big Muddy, and its large tributaries, harrasing Southern shipping and riverside enterprises continuously.
Southern forces could and did interdict Union Gunboats with field Artillery and sank a good number of them, but never stopped the yankees from controlling the major rivers. Hence, in game terms and play, a Gunboat effectively stops you from controlling a river province, even though you may occupy a city in that river province. this is OK and seems historical and accurate to me.
Hope you read this Erik, and others, as I just saw how this worked earlier this early morning (redundancy is fun, and it drove a couple of my Profs. nuts years ago [8|][X(][:D][;)], ha ha ha!!).
I ended up with the city of Memphis and its river province in my contro; when my gunboat passed and cut-off the Yankee Gunboat. The river battle at Memphis in 1862 reversed.
Now I have a CSA Ironclad down in new Orleans, but if doesn't move up rivers. Is that the way yo made the game?? I want to take my Ironclad up to Cairo. Can I do this?? CSA Ironclads were not sea-going, except for the European built ones that never got into the fight. The CSA game ironclad is sea-going but not river-going. I am just discovering all this. Must read the Manual more.
This is the way I look at ships in the game:
1) River Gunboats represent a mix of all types of wooden ships and ironclads; wooden rams, timberclads, cottonclads, a single or few ironclads, large Sloops-of-war such as the Hartford, converted civilian wooden gunbaots, etc., etc. etc.
2) Frigates, I guess are the sailing ships to include the few frigates that were in the US Navy, sloops, etc., etc.
3) Ships, I don't know what these represent yet, but am guessing they are the steam-powered large warships such as the Union sloops-of war like the Hartford etc., the Confed. commerce raiders, etc. Ships int the game are the bigger, fully rigged steamships. My undertanding so far.
4) Ironclads are ironclads, [X(][8|], but I guess the Confed. ironclads can't operate on rivers. Strange. I don't know what the pestiferous Yankee ironclads do yet. I chose 'Counterfiting' and that cut back on Yankee monetary/economic resources considerably. Not bad, and sneaky to boot.
