I'm currently playing the Market Garden scenario and from a certain turn, you can have units cross the Waal River near Nijmegen. If i remember correctly the info says that you should move units into the crossing area on the shore and then you can cross with one unit per turn. But how do you conduct this action? Does a certain icon pop up? I've had a unit sit on the shoreline for one full turn, but can't make him cross. The info stated that one rifle company per turn can cross, but what units fit this description?[&:]

One unit per turn, starting turn 6 (thru ??) can cross. The unit must be on the river in the crossing zone at start of turn. The hit the ferry (ship) button in the unit action box. You can then cross the river. Remember to hit the unload (anchor) button after you cross.

First you have to identify a unit that can cross this river (since no units can simply cross... all need a bridge or ferry or assault boat crossing).

Second you have to have amphib transports  available.   In the  screen shot below there are none available.

Finally you have to start the turn in an assault crossing hex (look for a sea lane indicator).  There are three assault crossing zones:  1 Abn Evac, West of Nijmegan, and East of Nijmegan.

Thanks for the detailed description [:)]
I'll try this and hopefully my happy troops will outflank Nijmegen. [:D]

In terms of game mechanics, the assault crossings work exactly the same way as the German ferries, which are explained step by step in the German briefing screens. The Airborne evacuation up at Arnhem works the same way, if they manage to last until Turn 16.

However, you don't need to worry about any of that, since JSS has done a great explanation for you!
