Dear Friend,
I put the finished turn files here.
http://www.geocities.jp/pacificwarjp/SAVEAs.lzh
I got the following message after the execution phase.
"Allied countries canceled demand of unconditional surrender.
Japan agreed to withdraw conquered territories.(sorry I don't remember exact description)"
It seems that the game condition is not recorded in the files and the event appears at random.
Anyway, you will be able to know the shortest(?) way to finish this game.
Regards.

I am glad to see that your strategic ability is only matched by your humility.
The best I've done is Dec 7, 1942 as Japan (Signed on the deck of the Yamato in the Japanese colony of Los Angeles.).

I ran into this problem myself, although my game ended in January 1944. Here is what Large Slow Target had to say:
Apparently this is a bug that was introduced in version 2.1 or 2.2 back in 2000 and Rich Dionne made a fix for this.
EDIT: The fix is still available under
http://home.earthlink.net/~tmflood/page2.html, see 'Temporary fix for premature war end'.

Dear Captain,
Thank you for the information.
However unfortunately I couldn't browse the URL's.
I'll try to do with another environment.
Or really is it available yet?
Regards.

Thanks! I've downloaded 3.2 and I'll see if I can get it to run on my laptop. Do you have any particular house rules?

Dear Friend,
I'm glad to hear your readiness.
For your reference, I'm playing on DOSBox. I think it is the easiest way and convenient because the window is available with other windows applications such as Excel.
About the house rules, because I'm not familiar with them, please indicate them to me, I'll obey.
Also please indicate the scenario. Currently I'm ready on the Campaign 41 only. If you'd like other scenarios, please give me further time to consider strategies.
Regards.

Okay, I got 3.2 to work and I read up on the update. The only house rule I can think of relates to aircraft production. I find that if the Allied player concentrates all fighter production on Spitfires and all Tac bomber production on Beaufighters, then the Japanese have a very hard time. So I would agree to not do this as the Allied player. Also, I have not downloaded that save game you posted, so I have not taken a peek at what your first 13 moves look like. Other than that, the 1941 campaign is fine with me. As in Kendo, we can bow and get to it!

Welcome Monte!
It's pretty much the usual IJ expansion so far (spring '42). We did manage to have a major carrier battle, but it was inconclusive. Isoroku is trying to take Seattle.

That doesn't quite sound like the usual Japanese expansion. Is he sailing all the way from the Aleutians, or has he managed to seize a closer base?

Well, it’s my usual expansion when I play the IJ, although I prefer a direct assault on Fisco.
Along with the "more usual" stuff, in Dec ’41 Isoroku worked his way through the Aleutians and tried to take Midway. I reinforced Midway with a brigade from Pearl and sent A-20’s there. I set my three carriers in one TF on a reaction strike from Pearl that would cover Midway. In Jan, he moved his carrier TF past Midway moving to the NE. My Havocs struck and then the Carriers. In the VCR playback I was surprised to see several of his carriers sunk, only to find out that the playback is a waste of time. In reality, we exchanged blows, but nothing was sunk. Since then, he’s been steadily moving down from Alaska and has landed in northern Australia.
I've tried to create a diversion in the west by attacking Medan, but the CW land units are too weak. I lost the CVL Hermes in the attack to his air units.
Four turns in a row, my substantial air force in Seattle (three fighter and four bomber units) has completely refused to bomb his 10 infantry divisions. The B-17’s in Frisco have only bombed once and my bombardment TF’s also refuse to work as advertised, even though their HQ’s have Seattle as their target. My carrier TF will also not go to Seattle and bomb his land units either. It is as though the program does not recognize IJ land units at this base. Even though I have a huge uncontested AZOC in Seattle, his ground forces get stronger and mine weaker. I have sent the two divisions from Pearl to Frisco to prevent an end run, but I had to send one to "The Battle In Seattle" to shore up the defense. If I lose there, the West Coast is pretty much lost, although not because of anything that I failed to do.

I've run across things like that myself. I'm not sure whether this is a "fog of war" feature carried too far, or a genuine programming glitch. For the air units, I don't know any really good way of breaking them out of their lethargy -- the one thing I might suggest is accepting an Air Leader lower on competence but higher in aggressiveness. For the bombardment TF's, any time a TF fails it should be disbanded completely and re-formed. Otherwise they get "stuck" failing to do the same thing over and over. Lastly, do the Japanese have Juneau? Maybe that's how they're getting reinforcements.

Yes, Isoroku has all the bases in Alaska. He has moved some air units to Juneau this turn and I hope that at least my fighters will have something to do. He e-mailed me and asked if he could post the VCR file and I agreed.

Apparently neither of us can now launch air attacks on Seattle. His carriers won't and none of my air units do. This is a real p'er, since this is the pivotal battle of the war.
