The Braves of 1977 have vowed a race to the championship .
With nothing much to work with this group is determined to succeed .
Starting pitching nadda -Phil Niekro-speaks for himself
Dick Ruthven -unproven
Andy Messersmith-already down with arm trouble ,60 day dl
However with gritty players like Montenez,Matthews, and Jeff Burroughs they have hopes of being players in the NL West.
The middle infield consisting of players Darrel Chaney ss,Rod Gilbreath 2b,and rookie Randall L Cole(an unproven speedster, with good potential)Have hereby dubbed themselves The Dirty White Boys.
Much ignored from openening day the DWB finds themselves 7-4 and threatening to break out in the western division, currently dominated by Cincinnatti.

April 20,1977
Cool and a lil breezy in Atlanta,55 degrees
Dave Winfield hits Dick Ruthvens 2nd fastball into the left field bleachers to start the game.
Bottom of first we retalliate, scoring 2,a walk stolen base, and a couple of timely singles.
In the 5th inning we do it again with a hit and run and a couple of timely hits .
We are up 4-1 and they threaten in the 7th,Jamie Easterly comes in relief and gets 6-4-3 double play.
Top of 8th a 2 run shot by some catcher named Scanlon makes it a 4-3 ballgame.
We call on our closer Buzz Capra and end it 4-3.
The DWBs are now 8-4 tied with the big red machine for first in the NL West.

For game one we draw Burt Hooten,a very capable pitcher much heard of and his stuff is well known.
We are forced to counter with Frank LaCorte,a little known journeyman(some of you may remember Frank, especially in Houston area)
We got what we got.
Game one-its on

I wasn't hating on your thread man.. I think it's great that your posting about your association.. I was just stating that it belongs in the locker..  If you look in The Locker section of the forum there's lots of great association's that people post about like KG's association.

Definitely continue your thread in the Locker area. I remember following those Braves back in the day on "Channel 17", before it became the Superstation TBS.

Yall aint believin this one:
Friday April 22nd Dodgers (4-7) vrs Braves(8-4)
75 degress,wind in from lf 8mph

ATL,Frank LaCorte(1-1) vrs LA,Hooton(0-0)

Rod Gilbreath hits a 1-0 fastball just over the wall in left field to leadoff the game.
Braves take advantage of Dodgers offensive woes, and Frank Lacorte no-hits LA 1-0.
Lacorte struck out 3 walked 2 in a performance that was far from reflected in the boxscore.
9 fly balls caught on the warning track and at least 4 grounders headed into the outfield turned into outs. However its in the books,a no no recorded.
Braves go to 9-4.
LaCorte responded after the game he didnt realise he had a no-hitter going until the 7th inning when he wondered why he wasnt pinch hit for......
"Its a great feeling,a game Ill never forget".

Sat.April 23
Dodgers(4-8) vrs Braves(9-4)
68 degress wind out to rf 11mph
Tommy John(0-1)LA Bob Johnson(0-0) ATL
All abuzz over previous nites no-hitter its a sea of blue today for a Saturday afternoon game.We are scheduled to be on the game of the week(ABC i think),so we get the speech about scratching ourselves and how to act during the anthem.
2nd inning Ron Cey clobbers a changeup to the bleachers in centerfield putting the Dodgers up 2-0.
From here on we are "DR Johnned"
Headlines read:
"Shoe on other foot in in Atlanta"
"Incredible happenings in Hotlanta"
Tommy John goes 8 giving up no runs on no hits
Hough finishes up in 9th to NO-HIT US 2-0.
Crazy game.
