"Anybody still playing this thing?"

I've been wondering the same thing that Titanwarrior89 has. And since I have the power to create a poll thread, and since I'm taking a quick break from something unrelated to "Forge of Freedom," I figured we might as well find out how much the wait for the patch is impacting people's playing habits.

(Note that voting for #3 is not going to impact anything in terms of patch completion, so please choose the option that's true, not the one that you think will light a fire under the development team's collective rear end.)

I was playing all the time right after I got it. I've learned the rules and how everything works and started work on my own scenario, but decided to wait until the patch came out instead of having to do a scenario twice. I just can't get into it knowing there are many new features and fixes coming.

I'm really, truly not playing as I await the patch.  I always feel frustrated when I play with flaws that I know are somewhere, for someone, already fixed.

In other words, you picked #3. So did I. I tried playing it, I really did, but it's just not the same knowing that a wonderful update is so close!

This game is exactly what I have been looking for in a civil war game, so even if the next patch did not come out, I would still be trying to play this any spare minute of the week.

I can not wait for the patch, I know that all the new features will make this a better more fair game to play.

Not trying to rush the patch along....but I voted 3 because I have loads of games to play and knowing there are fixes and features coming I decided to hold off on my started game.

I was facing a VERY heavy CSA outfit and if I attacked anywhere, they kicked my a$$...

Besides...I just got the box and beautiful manual, so I'm busy brushing up on the rules until the patch comes.

Rest assured, when the patch comes, I will be straight back on it, 'cos I loved the game and the feel...especially the strategic level...I fought very few detailed battles

Well, I'm pleased to see that so far none of our active play-testers has said he chose #3...

I'm still trying to beat the AI in the old game! I'm getting plenty of practice though.

Are you playing as the north or south?

i can win as the South. Its the North thats the Challenge. Even if the game is flawed it is fun and the improvements will make it more enjoyable.

I voted #2 because the whole world is flawed anyway, and it will all take some fixing.

Spock taught me to be logical long ago.[X(][;)]

Yup.

Chris[>:][>:][>:][>:]

PS: I just got my Router and inet working again on my old compooter system that I use for the inet. The setup was flawed because I didn't type in my assigned IP and Gateway and DNS addresses at the Router site, as I thought I could use the random ones the Router site assigned. No, I couldn't do that. Funny, I had it all setup about 2-weeks or less ago, but forgot how I set it up, and the Router site isn't much of a help since it is flawed in this aspect also. See, everything and everyone are flawed. It's a flawed world. If only the world would listen to me, I could make it a little less flawful and more flawless, like me. [8|][&:][:D]

PSS: Hey, this really works good with the correct inet addresses entered into the Router site. Just about as fast as without using a Router. I wonder if the CHEKA-GPU-NKVD-KGB ever determined this?? I bet the Pinkertons didn't.

I really want to play this game...like now...but I am afflicted with the same problem as above in that I just can't play knowing an update is imminent.

I'm playing against the AI and practicing with the rules. The update sounds great but there is so much to learn when playing HW. I learn things every battle. Just understanding the flow of the battles with FOW on. You really can be bushwacked if you are not careful and don't have very much Cav. Hope the patch is soon but still enjoying the heck out of it between WITP PBEM turns.[:D]

I agreed with number two. Great game, but the update previews look really good. I would still be interested in it even if the game was not to be completely updated.

Ive just slowed down some on it. Been playing some of the others I have a little more. Been playing alot of EU3 and back to FOF.[:D]

Played at release a bit, then kinda lost track fo the game while other stuff arrived (most notably EU3 beta). I'd start again, but with a patch right around the corner I rather wait for it before playing again.

Numero Tres...great game concept but the patch seems to address most of my current frustrations with various play issues.

Ditto with everyone else; I'm afraid to start a new campaign when the new patch won't accept saved games. I've been mainly playing HW from saved games.

Number 3.  I have read the manual twice, and experimented to familiarize myself with the mechanics of the gameplay. Once I realized it was basically a "beta" release, I decided to wait until it was further along in development. My mistake was in believing that Matrix would not behave like other software publishers and release a product that was not fully tested. If it had been, we would not be waiting for a "patch/update" before even playing the game in the first place. The only reason I have not completely discarded the game, is Matrix's superb reputation for patches. WITP is a great example.

This will however, impact the timing of any future Matrix product purchases by me, meaning they will have to be at least 3 months old, so the forums can give a better assessment as to whether or not the game is actually reasonably complete or not. In this case it wasn't.
