I've been trying to activate a re-inforcement that I have been notified is available (namely in Cracow 1914). The icon sits apart from the map. I have scrolled down to effect the options...Mobile..dig in.. etc.
I see evidence that it budges and -- (certainly no signal that it dropped out for lunch on the way to the front where they were needed).
Unless I gaffed completely in chasing it down in the manual, I've missed out.
Any advice? I"ll go back to the program manual in the meantime.
Only two weeks into TOAW - it's dynamic.

Not quite sure what the problem is. Can you give us some more info to go on here? Like which unit? What turn? What hex is it in? A screenshot, and/or a save file would be helpful, as well. Thanks.

The re-inforcement icons, groupings, are off map in a black zone, not available for embarkation, - - just there.
I went through the drop-down options to activate them but....nothing happened. I would send a screen-shot or copy of the file, but as yet , I don't seemto have that capability. It's been afew moves ago, but I have saved the game.
Thanks for your interest.

It sounds like they are on static or some other formation order. Go to the formation report and check the first row below the heading. If it says anything other than "Ready for Orders" then it's the formation orders setting that is preventing you from moving the units. This row may also give you a turn on which the units will become available.

Thanx GA,
I went to the Formation Report again and my XVII Corps (Re-inforcemnts) is there and "mobile". I can't help but believe the solution is in plain sight, but I haven't been able to unwravel it.

Are they airmobile?

No Larry, They're not airmobile. And I have noticed no prompt to 'embark', such as RR.
BTW - what is required to get a screen shot?
Also, I started another entry of the game....And the re-inforcement glitch stays the same.
Green Apple, no indications that reviewing "Formation" has a solution.
Somewhere in all this is the answer, but I haven't found it yet.
Thanks again to both of you for your interest. I hope to find a solution to this.

To get a screenshot, press "Shift" and "PrtScrn" keys simultaneously. Then minimize TOAW III, and open MS Paint. You should find it in your Windows Start Menu >>> Accessories. Then Paste it into the open document by pressing the "Ctrl" and "V" keys. You should save the image as a jpeg format, and can do this by choosing that format from the drop down menu when you save and name it. You may need to crop the file to fit within the constraints of the Matrix upload limits, but if you host the file on a free hosting site, you can get around that limitation.

Shawmut,
In lieu of a screenshot I offer the following:
The only units that should be in hex surrounded by non-playable hexes are the info units. These are dummy units containing only a single military police squad and their purpose is to inform you that a new reinforcement option is available from the theater options menu. From there you must select which option you wish to activate and then there is a delay before the reinforcements turn up in the exclusion zones.
The reinforcement system in Krakow 1914 is complicated but it offers the player flexibility as to what reinforcements become available and when. The scenario introduction tries its best to explain this but it is a tad inscrutable. English is not the author's native language and although he tries his best the introduction assumes a certain familiarity with TOAW which is lacking in new players. I hope this helps.
Best wishes,

Activation, deploying units from insets, trying different formation unit orders, uploading (which I've made -thank you for the help on that) screenshot which I've done from a hosted site.....I'm lost.
I have scoured the manual for the solution.
In Cracow this corps is just sitting there (Korp I, Kastenek, et stacki) turn 10. No MP Units. I've noticed this as well, Zimbabwe and Dragoon where a hex of RR tracks show.
I'm in the first turn of Dragoon, I have the units 'embarked' and have saved to continue. One has no option at this phase (maybe later in the game, I guess).
Now I'm cognizent enough to realize that air and their AA units sit pending action on insets. So we're OK on that.
Also, I can see where reinforcements show up on the field - pretty clear.
I am frustrated when these units appear in insets (or off-map palates) and I can't make them active.
BTW - When Theatre Options is signals at the beginning of a turn; is it only then I can see them?
You've all been real decent in trying to help. I appreciate it....... I also appreciate trying to deal with an old guy (66 next week) trying to get up to date with the 20th Century, let alone the sophomore years of the 21st.

Ok. Let's go through this step by step.
1. Don't worry about your age, I am no spring chicken myself.
2. The theatre option screen is always available. Go to the View menu and select Theatre Options. This is not to say that there will always be theatre options for you to choose but you can always look at theatre options screen.
3. Zimbabwe 2003. The off map area at the bottom of the screen contains a selection of units. There are air units, AA units defending the airfields and there are parachute and special forces units that you load onto aircraft and parachute onto the map.
4. Dragoon 44. The off map area bottom right contains three seperate off map locations. On the right of this area are you parachute forces. You load them onto aircraft and parachute them into theatre. At the bottom, there is a area representing off-map airfields that contain air units. Just to the left of these are the port hexes that contain troops for boarding onto ships and you move them into theatre like that.
5. Crackow 1914. I am still having a problem understanding what you are seeing here. 12 ID/I Korps Kastranek is on map at the start of the game. It should not be in a hex surrounded by non-playable hexes. If it is then do the non-playable hexes suddenly appear in the middle of the map? Or is the formation relocated in some way to an off map area? The formation is not allowed to reconstitute so if it has been destroyed it should not appear later in the game as reinforcements. Before offering any advice, we need to know exactly what the problem is and how we can duplicate what you are seeing.
Finally, don't get disheartened. We will help to get you up and running.
Best wishes,

..that's when they first become available and appear in the ThOp screen, how long they stay around is a designer's choice..
..most designers tell you in the scen briefing what ThOps will be available, and their effects/ poss cost in vps, some don't tho' that's mostly in early Toaw I and II scens..

I'm gratefuul for all the help, not to mention enthusiam, to solve this 'activation' issue.
I regret I've been slower to aknowledge it all than I had been in 'crying wolf'. Now, I'll just get on it.
Thanks again,
David
