SP3 Tournament expertise

Hey!
Anyone here have any experience with running email games?? I'm gonna try running an email ear game, using the SP3 game to resolve battle. The SP3 part I have down OK, but I'd appreciate any feedback on the email part... I.E. production, diplomatic etc.
