Hi, had my Army of the Poromac deployed with 7 Division each with 5 Brigades (USA); makes up for 35 Brigades, the maximum amount for an Army, so i thought; by mistake, i attached a lonesome brigade which happened to be in the same hex, and it worked;
Now what is the maximum you can put into an army container; is it the 140000 men limit?
Does it mean if you attach 4 full corps you can have up to 60 Brigades in an Army?
Where is the limit?

I'm away from my own computer and can't answer your question at the moment, but I'm wondering if you had siege artillery in there. One of the changes in the patch is that siege artillery no longer takes up a slot in a division. (We did this so that one could create stronger siege divisions -- now, there's room for one more infantry brigade.)

In my experience. You can assuming its a container with subcontainers always stuff in 1 more brigade than the limit, if its added as a single unit.
Never saw it as much of an biggie so never mentioned it. Regardsless of siege art.

How does one change this? Or more specifically how does one allow an Army to hold more Corps and divisions.
 
I changed the "MaxContainer0--armies" in acwplayers.txt to 70 to no effect.
 
Having the Army of the Potomac with just 3 corps drives me nuts. [:D]

Eric answered that once. There are 2 files or 2 entries u need to change. I'd do a search in the regular forum.

Unless a patch changed something there is no limit on containers inside containers actually. The only limit is brigades, which used to be changed in just one file.

I have not been well and havent played in a while but thats the way it worked at least until the beta patch..

Now if you want to change the allowed size of a brigade, that takes changing 2 files.

My Corps were usually 20 or 22 brigades and my Armies 100 or 110 Brigades for Union and similar for the Confederacy.

Thanks TwoTribes, you're exactly right. I used the forum search but couldn't find the dev post where they explained it.
 
So I looked through the files again and found it. There's an acwplayers.txt in the scenario folder that you need to change. I had only changed the acwplayers in the Data folder.
