If I hit space or most keys it also crashes back to windows 2000.
tried running spwaw.exe in 800x600.
also, mech.exe does same, changes video mode and faults. intel 82810 vid, no sound card.

Found this in Logfile.txt

I think I had same kind of problem.
Try to use older or newer graphics driver
